Thanks BAM. I'm still a little unsure about the transition between the hair and the forehead. Its missing something. Maybe a darker contrast?

Appreciate the comment, thanks again.

Goblin King

I attached his wolf cloak and painted it up. I have a little bit of moss and lichen to attack to the base, then I'll attach it to the plinth and finish the ax and crown. This will be entered into the current 'Eadbanger Competition and I'll bring it to the Sword and Brush Model show in Toronto. For those near by, or those who like to paint figures, this show is also a Crystal Brush qualifier event.

Comments and criticism are welcome.

Massive Darkness

I backed the Massive Darkness game from CMON for the huge amounts of minis. Turns out the game is decent too.

Im planning on paint up the whole set, as watching the folks here painting up MoM, and Zombiecide has been pretty inspiring.

Here is my start on one one of the Roaming Monsters; The Flesh Golem. Base colours blocked in with first shadow and highlight to the purple.

Added some more shadows and texture. Still a bit to go. Trying to keep reminding myself that this isn't a display piece. Trying to get it done in a reasonable time.

Massive Darkness Flesh Golem

Worked on the bandages and loincloth last night. I think I need to add a darker wash and lighter highlight to the bandages to give the old, worn bandage look. Maybe a grey?

Loincloth th just had base colour and first wash. I want this to look really worn too.

Any comments welcome.

And the work continues.

Some bone and blood along the seams of differeent body parts. I'll tone it down with some greys and greens to deaden the blood a bit. And feather the red into the surrounding flesh.

Metallics and rust next.

Comments, criticism, tips, all appreciated.

it looks to be progressing well, you have lots of colours going on there, i would consider finding a colour to unify them a bit. for example using one dark colour the same in all the shadows.

Thanks Coyote. I thin you are right. It was looking a little too multi coloured. Perhaps using a blue - grey wash over everything? He's supposed to be pieced together from lots of other body parts.

Finally finished him off. Big shout out to Coyote. Thanks for pointing out and suggesting the unified wash. It toned down the brighter colours and made everything blend nicely.

There will be no detailing of the base base as it is primarily a game piece. Trying to keep it simple.

Cheers

I would have to agree with Coyote, this guy is looking pretty good! I especially like the rusty metallics on the sword. I can't help but wonder if you might consider highlighting some of the skin a bit more to really make the colors pop, especially on the shoulders but that is a personal preference thing and if you're trying to make this guy look good for the tabletop then you're well on your way to having him done. I look forward to seeing some more minis from Massive Darkness!

Coyote: Once again, thanks for the advice.

Kuribo: Thanks for the kind words. I tired Vallejo's metallic rust paint for the first time. Its easy to work with, but still need some practice. The wash toned down the highlights that I had originally put on, but they are there. My poor pictures just dont show it. As the game is a dungeon crawl, I'm less concerned about an abundance of bright highlights. I could spend another week on this guy, but I' never get all the figures painted. That being said, maybe I'll toy with some OSL. I'll be starting up the next figure this week so there will be lots more coming. Thanks again.
