Bad Decisions Bust

Not a whole lot of painting time lately but I've had this bust for a while and I kept getting drawn to it. Still very much a WIP. The green has just been added to determine borders between mutated and regular skin.

Comments and criticism welcome.

Space Marine Apothecary

Hi all,

First post in a while. I recently had some old GW space wolves and various bits passed on to me. I always fell into more of the fantasy interest than SF.
That being said, I thought I'd give these a go for fun. Included in the bunch is a space marine apothecary. I found this picture below that I got off google.
Can anyone help me with potential paint schemes? I'm not familiar with the 40k universe. Is this model a specific chapter of space marine? I'd like to paint it fairly accurately.

Thanks Zab. I'd done a quick search of other images and assumed that there are different looks to apothecaries. Ive seen some with just white heads, though wiki states that its all white armour. Is there a hard and fast rule other than the left shoulder armour being the colour of the chapter. I'd just like to give as much interest as possible.

Almost Perftec! Aw, crap.
Codex chapters tend to follow the rule of all white and less conventional chapters tend to just do what they like ;) Pick a second (or later) founding chapter not derived from the ultra marines or imperial fists or maybe one of the more unorthadox first founding chapters like salamanders or raven gaurd and you can do whatever you like :)

Thanks Zab. Based on that info, I'll likely go with whatever colours I have in stock. I'm not typically a Citadel paint guy. Looks like Ultramarine or Blood Angels for me.

Even the Ultramarines don't always have all white apothecaries, the official scheme on the command squad apothecary just has white right shoulder pad with apothecary symbol and white helmet

You are right that there area lot of other options. Its a pretty basic piece (1994 i believe) but we'll see what I can do. I also found some old waterslide decals for space wolves and blood angels. I'm still stripping the old paint off of them so I'll post updates once I start.

That old green flock base is nostalgic. You should get pretty much free reign on how to paint him, as long as there is some of the chapter colour on there and some white, no one will bat an eye

Hi Zab.

I took your advice and did a bit of research. I think ive settled on the Storm Callers Chapter. Its an easy lightning bolt insignia on the arm that even I can pull off, as well as a red and black colour scheme. I'll keep the head and right shoulder white though.

Krulebear: Thanks for the vote of support for ten year old me, but let's face it; he was a freaking amateur. lol

The apothecary is all cleaned up, and primed. Managed to start blocking some paint on him last night too, but no pics of that.

Anyone know why there is a heart in the middle of the chest wings? He looks like an up-armoured Planeteer.

I guess it's because he's prone to "care a lot" :laugh::laugh::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl: Whew! Okay, I'm good now. :snicker:
