Truescale Space Wolves and Fluff Scale Dreadnought

51 truescale marines? Isn't that some kind of record?

As for the scouts, that's going to be tough, since they're not heavily armored. Though in reality, they shouldn't be much shorter than marines, since the only height difference would be soles and helmet. Beefing up the unarmored bits would be a must though.

On a side note, why don't marines ever stand up straight?

Not sure if it's a record just yet but my full plan is to hit ~100 marines, 10 Termies, 6-8 Rhino/Razorbacks, 3 Dreads and 1 Land Raider in a pear tree.... :-D I'm almost at the 50% mark and it's just past 1 year into the project, maybe the full army will be ready by fall 2012!

I want 15 scouts total so I need to work out a good method. Not to many truescale scouts rolling around on the net just yet... Maybe I should make a few marines standing - it would be a novelty!

LOL - and here I thought it was a tense, ready for action pose! ;-)

because squatting and looking like you've shat your pants is cool!

Ah well, perhaps a post-constipation action squat does convey more of a feeling of intense action better than an ants-in-the-pants jig. That just wouldn't be appropriate for an Astartes.

Bah, just spent half an hour trying to find a thread on a site I cant remember the name of which I stumbled upon yesterday showing true scale scouts...

I have a few pics of my SM scout model. It was sculpted with a ragdoll so i suppose is true scale. Its not a perfect anatomy but i hope it helps you.

A nice river dance would add some extra special personality to a marine model. :-D

Thanks for the try mate! Sorry it ate up that much time! Scouts, termies and vehicles don't get a lot of attention in the truescale world...

I think it's because the marine armor was designed by a bow-legged alcoholic. It doesn't even fit if you try and stand normally.

And morsi - that scout is fantastic.

Hi-ho everyone! It's been a while coming but I finally have an update! After much suffering working on the giant wolf and technical drawing plans for upsized vehicles I am taking a painting holiday! :)

Here are some progress shots of a few 'finished' wolves!

First up is a very special Grey Hunter, special because he was the first truescale marine I converted!

another Grey Hunter...

A Long Fang Pack Leader...

Shoulder Pad Details...

and a Wolf Guard...

Here is a current group shot...

and the Wolf Guard flanked by a couple guardsmen...

I'm shooting for a real earthy color scheme with no metalics of any kind being used in the palette. Any thoughts or C&C are always welcome. I'm shooting for high tabletop quality on these boyz as I have to paint 60 of them plus 6 drop pods by late September.

Thanks for looking!

Cheers / J

A little more madness to share...

First a couple of Wolf Guard Termies...
Here is a surprising decent photo (for me at least) of the 2 together.

Mr Two-Axe here is mostly done (needs a finished base and the axes need smoothed out a bit)

While Mr Chainfist is still lacking a finished banner... I think I'm going to use him as a Lone Wolf so I may do some kind of Grey Hunter pattern banner to honour his former pack... However I am open to any cool ideas that take 2-3 hours or less to paint up! (Still have to finish 36 of these boys for the fall tournies!!!!)

And to help with scale (since these guys are ~75% Grey Stuff) here is one next to a traditional Termie:

And next to an undernourished Marine...

After working on Fluff sized marines for 2 years now I must say that the actual models look totally wrong to me now. If you look at the head compared to the thigh armour on a plastic marine it really shows... That and the fact that one can use the heads and weapons from regular marines on these monsters without them looking one bit out of place! :)
Any C&C welcome plus banner ideas are very welcome!! I'm off to start Long Fang unit#2... The must have Missle brigade! Cheers! /J

I must say, that looks awesome, they really are big'uns. Of course, there's still the issue where a Terminator's shoulders would actually be, but hey, that's just GW shenannigans :D
As for the banner, something with a stylised wolf skull would work well, some runic script etc etc.

Maybe a stylized wolf's head to match the storm shield would work well... Thanks mate!

I have a bit of an odd question. What photo editing software do you use? I just took one of your darker photos into photoshop and used the auto levels feature and got a very clear image that may have been truer in color. I think it could help the look of your minis.

Now, I think you have done an incredible job with these, both conversion and painting. Well done.

I actually just load the pics straight to imgur. I've never tried to use any photo editing software. (Maybe why so many of the pics come out a bit off!) Is photoshop pretty easy to use for the technically challenged?

That depends on how challenged. :) Naturally it's a pain to sit down and learn every single detail about basic navigation without some help and when that's done, actually use what you find... But since Photoshop is such a popular tool you can find tons and tons of tutorials ranging from initial installation and startup for the Newb to how to implement and edit 3D-objects in photographs on a professional level and more. :)

Here's one that's fairly close to what you're after:
