Yeah, the tradidtional colours suit it nicely mr. zoom-o-vision. :) I'd say roll with it. I like the expression on his face a lot.

The ammo belt... hmmm well... it does what it needs to but it is rather on the small side. Because compared to the barrels, that's a really small caliber...
Just a thought, instead of an ammo belt, why not get rid og that, use the opening aft of the gun as a case ejector, and stick a kickass fat ammo drum on the back? Y'know, something that looks as if it can keep hosing xenus scum for a while.

I'm thinking something like the drum on the CIWS system I modeled for a 3D Ship I made some years ago. The pic's rather small. I'll see if I can dig up a better one when I'm at home.

Thanks mate! It's time to break out the 10/0 detail brush and clean up the design. That should make for a tedious hour or so this weekend. :D

As for the ammo feed... well I got lazy and just stole the one from the SW terminator so now that I've rested up I'm happy to revisit it. :cute:

Are you thinking a single drum loader on the side like this?

Sweet pics! I'll have to sketch out some possible designs and see what looks good. Having a big ammo drum should be pretty cool! :D

Getting ramped up for some weekend hobby time! Started the legs for another squad of marines and got a base coat on 4 Wolf Claw Termies that will round out a Void Claws formation for the army. :D

Going to start painting Harald and give Bjorn some more attention this weekend too. Hope to have make a lot of progress! :D

I'm taking these guys to a local tournament so I need to throw together a display board of some type. So far I did up a little design from a scrap piece of circular presswood and plasticard. I'm not sure how to incorporate this into a larger rectangular base. Any ideas would be most welcome.

Wow man, that Dread is a monster! And so is the monster. :) Good stuff, mate!

A larger, square board... hmmm

How about a ring of runestones/monoliths, starting small and separate in the front and gradually getting larger around the circle with maybe some Stonehengian cap stones in the back?
And to fill up the corners maybe some ancient ground with some large grass tufts and some rock debris.

Thanks mate! I really like that idea a lot. It could incorporate this random piece and bring the whole thing together! Now to see if I can actually pull that together over a couple of days. maybe make the standing stones/rubble from Styrene and run with it. I have to admit I'm never been a huge fan of board building so I'm not very practiced at it.

I dabbled with plasti card many moons ago, dunno if this might help but here's the link anyway http://www.coolminiornot.com/forums/showthread.php?35400-imperial-guard-command-bunker-GOTHIC-STYLE
its a bunker but I did a roof top anti aircraft gun too

Very nice construction! I love the detail work and will be referencing back to this as I start working on the truescale vehicles. Thanks for sharing the link! Now if I can just pull something together this weekend!

Thanks mate! The big fella is the first plasticard work I've done. I'm planning to do up his drop pod and some Rhinos soon. :)

Am I on the right track with the display base? Went for the Stonehenge / Falling down kind of look.

Looks good man. Depending on how large you want to make the square, I'd tuck 'm in closer to the circle.

Thanks for pointing me in the right direction! I was completely stuck on what to throw together for next weekend. My mind already drifted to working on the tanks for the army. Man, I just can't stay focused at all! :)

Nothing better then a good old fashioned motivational slap!!! Hope your flu has passed so you can get back to some hobby goodness. :cute:

After I put the list together I had to go BIG with the board. (2 feet deep x 4 feet wide!)

I cut the main board in half so I can transport this beast. Going to do mirror image hills on each corner and use the big circle wolf design to help disguise the board join. Got the frame cut screwed and waiting on glue to dry.

That's huge...

Oh, and just out of curiosity and perhaps a tip. Are you planning or using some weathering powders on those monoliths? It's amazing what a realistic touch they give to any rock mounted, even when using some brows and greens. They add a subtly which is, I think, impossible to achieve using paints. Check the flint on the bases of my BA, and this fella I did earlier.

It's a big army! Even at 1750 points. :)

Thanks for the link! Awesome job on that fella. I have to figure out how to string photos together and get the nice background at some point. I would like to do some models up to put out for a vote in the future... plus it would give me an excuse to actually show some care when I paint instead of my normal race to the finish line and on to the next one. :D

I have had weathering powders in my cabinet for years but have never tried to figure out how to use them. I may take a shot with the stones to see how they work. A little practice before using them on an actual mini would probably be a good idea!
