I\'ve had an idea.

Is anyone good with graphics?

Basically, if somebody could design a logo for this that we could all put into our signatures here and on other sites along with the link, we could vastly increase awareness via the multitude of forums we each visit.

The guy who designed my site images could do one, but I was wondering if anyone could...

Just an idea anyway.

to check if I\'m understanding this correctly: You\'re going to paint figures for a GW army, then send it to a central address to make a pic, auction the army on Ebay and money goes to charity? I\'ve been running around different forums trying to promote other Tsunami relief projects (figurepainter and Holger Schmidt auctions, creafigs and Reaper limited run figures) so I missed the story behind this project.

I\'d love to help out painting but I\'m better at sculpting than painting. In any case, I\'ll add this to the list of things to tell people about. Need any weapons, furniture or something sculpted? Not a full figure since I\'m a little uncertain about my time in the coming weeks.

Thoughts
This is going well that is good, very good indeed.
I hope in the endeavors we do not lose sight that it is all of us together high and low,.. big and small to help the others that have none at all. I kinda hope it does not become a promotional tool for one entity or source but a tool to help one cause the best we can.
If there are many involved and it is too large a number for one army ... why not spread the goodness ... Two army\'s of opposing forces to hold all the love we have to share. Whatever VS> the Ogre Sell the opposing army\'s as a lot. (all as one auction item)
I worry when kind people feel less than or not able because of statistic\'s (although I am aware they matter). A happy balance is what I hope for so that good hearted people do not feel shunned.
Ideas
*All people involved link web sites with a common banner for the cause...There is strength in numbers and diversity. In honor of CMON it started here and should be focused here like the round robins and other projects.
*Careful not to limit the painters style,Todd mentioned if he were going to buy this army he would indeed would want to See Dr\'s nmm and Trevor\'s and ...and... all of you have your strong points. It should be homogeneous bases color etc and playable but Most likely this army will be bought by a collector for art not play they would be foolish to risk damaging it.

Green stuff should have gotten the credit for this idea it concerns me he did not. I only started the post to assist his cause and idea from being lost in another thread. I made the commitment for it is a noble cause, I bow humbly in his honor.

I was thinking that since many more people might be interested (This post is only like 2 or 3 days old right?) that we might have to break it up and do 2 armies(like Tab-Studio suggested), but that all depends on how big we make the army. Many gamers have a small battleforce and call it an \"army\", but I think we need to see the army list from whoever is going to get that before we decide.

WoW!!!!! just dragged my sorry hinny out of bed and had my usual breakfast Pepsi and started checking out what happened last night on the Forums. My!! everyone has been busy!


I’m Donna McConnell and live in Sunny San Diego (of course right now, we be a wee bit water logged due to all the rain). Age 56 , I painted minis for years back in the 70s & 80s, but only made a name with the local D&D mob.

I’m up to painting more then one figure if needed, just give me some guidelines to follow.

Tab...very good point.......this should be a group effect and embrace painters of all grades of talent.
I can see the logistics are going to be huge, on getting this project finished... I applaud everyone giving their time and expertise.

I think TAB has made a very good point. This as has been said should encompass all grades of talent and I also think that the artistic liscence should be stretched and not be constrained.
There are people involved now of many varying degrees of talent and to should be allowed to paint to their strong points whether that be NMM/ metallics wet blending layering whatever the idea is to get as much as possible for this joint project so that those that need it most will ultimately benefit.

i think i remember it being mentioned that the close out date for members joining is wednesday. that gives us plenty of time to get all the members we need and all the members that want to do it

i think the great part about this is we can have people like me who arent very good painters at all, and people like Eric who is amazing, and people well known like Mike and Tammy and people like me who people only know because of this fourm

i think its wonderful that it is such a mixed group, it will make the army fantastic

on that note as well, i agree with mama (TAB) about the colors, i think we should let each persons unique and wonderful painting styles shine, if people can do NMM let \'em, if your better at metallics, do that. if you excell at conversion, Do it!

maybe thats just a personal opinion, but i think this army is going to end up being for show.

I was wondering about the uniform of the army too.

It would be different, but I am sure the potential buyer will understand the cause first and foremost and appreciate the unique quality of a banded effort by those with something to give.

It would, in the end, probably be best to let people show a bit of their unique qualities...

I think you have a good point there, ipaintminis. But I\'m also torn by the other idea of having something more \"standard\", like metallics and GW bases.
From where I see it, a collector will definately enjoy your idea, but a gamer may want something that looks better on the gaming table.
I really have no idea who bids more on ebay, collectors or gamers.

All I know is that I really want to do this fast! I just saw the evening news and now is the time, those people cannot afford to wait

OK, a little precision. When I asked for everybody\'s ranking, it was only to present a complete project to the GW Event team. To show them that this is serious. As far as I am concerned, everybody has a very important part to play in this projet.

We have had some abuses in other charity things in France and I wanted to present something that would make no doubt about our commitment.

I hope nobody took it badly.

heres a ruff list to let people know what we will be looking at to make a decent size force

1 ogre bruiser 130pts.

1 hunter w/ 2 sabertusk 165pts.

4 bulls w/comand 190pts.

4 bulls w/comand 190pts.

4 ironguts 242pts.

24 gnoblar fighters 48pts.

8 gnoblar trapers 48pts.

3 yhetees 195pts.

total 1208pts.

the points above are what comes in the boxed army with no upgrades like magic items I think if we could get a boxed army and a battalion box it will make a sold 2000pts. before upgrades witch is what most tournaments use 2k-2.5k

and if one of our sculpters out there feel up to it I do not belive they are makeing a fig for the slave gaint other then to convert the orc and goblin giant which could be a fun project that would bring some more intrest.

I feel that it would be best to have a few quidelines for this, but not to many so as it means dampering people imagination, its a difficult one this and like what has been said before we dont want to neglect some peoples particular strong points like NMM etc. Hmmm i\'m gona have to think about this.

If you add the battalion box to the army you then get to include lead belchers as well as bolstering out the other core units.

@ minimaker, I think we already met, i was the guy in the gamestore that asked about sculpting tips and how to sculpt a chaos giant etc. So we might join forces :]

Today I had the chance to speak with a guy who plays OK(and he\'s beardy) but he told me this:

-The hunter, a must have, the cats go hunt warmachines and lonely wizards(or even suicide runs).

-Ogre wizards, they are really cool çause they make your units evenmore durable.

-Ogre heroe\'s, they give you the punch. Especialy the 55 pts hammer wich hits like a stone trower hit rocks. I think at tournament everyone will use it.

-Bull, they are ogres a a core unit, hell yeah :]

-Ironguts, almost 1.6 times the price for great weapon, heavy armour logre\'s.... Why????

-Trapers and gnoblars they just look cool :]

-Scrap launcher, firemagnet

-Maneaters, they are a little expensive in 2000 pts but they sure look cool.

-Yetees, THE hardest unit of the army book, but also the ugliest. M7 guys that can walk trough terrain like normal.

-Slave Giant, well a giant always rocks so why not this time.

-Gorgers, they are usefull in most battle to use them as a flank force.


This is just a list to give you a idea what is usefull for a player. But i tink it\'s better to do include Ironguts, cause they just look cool, and it gives a bit variation. And about the Tyrant with big magic hammer, maybe someone could convert a really cool ogre with a hammer(wich isn\'t so hard with the Irongut sprue).
