I know I'm a good two weeks late to the party, but man that is the best Venom I've seen yet (including BoLS' Venom contest entries). It's the first one I've seen that didn't look like some bastardized hybrid and instead looks like a well thought out and purposeful design choice. Nice job!

edit:

You know what I love about you and your work (after going back through this post for the 3rd or 4th time)? You are completely unafraid to rip out anything that doesn't meet your standard and redo it from scratch. That takes cojones with the amount of time you put into these guys. Totally worth it, though.

Some really awesome stuff in here. I can't stop looking at that dread. Nice! -Matt

Thanks Matt! The Dread is one of my favorite creations so far and I am starting to feel the urge to give him a banner so that I can finally paint him up!

Thanks! I have to admit it was one of my faster creations. I looked at the picture in the new DE codex and thought- that doesn't look so bad! :) Maybe it came together fast cause I've played DE through the years... even when they haven't been cool! :-D

Thanks mate! I must admit that I have a heaviness in my chest when I rip apart days of work to try again! Such is the price of improvements I guess! ;-P

I always start with an image in mind that evolves as I get feedback in the forums... (which I absolutely love!) These guys wouldn't be what they are if you guys didn't drop the occasional note giving a thumbs up or the dreaded 'something doesn't look quite right!'

Here you go:

Combined and ready for download.

Thanks buddy! It looks great! My tech knowledge is focused on tax, accounting and payroll software so I am happy for any advice/help!

This is one of the happiest places i've ever been on the forum *sniff*

Thanks mate! I wish I could post more regularly but my business has needed loads of attention lately.

1/35 scale M113 APC's are slightly larger than 40k Rhinos and would also be quite easy to "40k-ify" to tournament legality.
(AKA much less work.)

Happens man, life's held up my production too lately lol. It's still a refreshing inspiration to see someone actually do something like this and throw out the "how too'" etc. I absolutely love Space Wolves, so I suppose this has a slightly more significant interest =P.
One thing i'd say though, with the termie and the braided tasche. It does look like a couple of bits of GS twisted together. There's a crazy easy way to do braided hair though, so have no fear! You need to just add the GS in the rough shape and breadth of the braid, then take a nice thin edge like an exacto blade and just make the impressions on the GS in the pattern of a braid. The ends, instead of trying to sculpt the individual hairs make a sort of ^ shape on the end below the clasp and do exactly the same thing with the exacto, but make the strokes a lot closer together.
It's not a huge do-over, it'd take you maybe 5-10 mins, but it'd make a huge improvement. Especially given the pose and look of that guy, it's immense. The very epitome of a Wolf Guard in my mind. Just that one thing puts me off ;)

Thanks! Finding a good inner frame to scale would save some pain. The jury is still out as to whether I can use any truescale vehicles in local tourney's. Since being larger and having less opportunity to be obscured/hide is such a bonus and all! :-D

One thing i'd say though, with the termie and the braided stasche. It does look like a couple of bits of GS twisted together. ;)

Thanks mate! It was yet another experiment gone wrong. I can still salvage it for a twisted rope on a belt pouch or something! The problem I've been running into is that some of the stasch is airborne so when I try to sculpt anything into it, it deforms/moves or falls off. I used the technique you listed to get to the pictures below and I like it a lot better! :)

Here's the bruiser next to a standard termie.

And since I am happy with the direction this truescale termie is heading I decided to start some brothers for him. These are at various stages. The plastic rod work is done, as is the new hip armour plates and I have started building up the odd boot, groin or shin armour. It's not as haphazard a process as it looks as I sculpt a section based upon how much time or GS I have mixed! :)

Hopefully I'll have these 3 finished up in the next few weeks. I'm planning 2 with Cyclones and One Lone Wolf out of this batch.

Cheers!

Again, awesome stuff mate. that larger scale really does bring those miniatures to life.

Thanks everybody! I need all the encouragement I can get to keep this project moving. At the moment the layers of snow and ice outside are helping to keep me focused! The wolfguard termies are plodding along! With a little luck I may be able to pull them together in the near future! Just wanted to drop by for a quick WIP update! The torsos are tacked on waiting on final posing... :)

I know they are walking tanks...but shouldn't natural instinct be to brace when firing missiles from your back?
The one on the left looks too active posed for a heavy weapon.
Just my opinion....

Still beats the chops outa anything I've done recently (or not recently...LOL)

Ow yeah, a pose somewhat like a Wolvering hulking pose would be great for launcing missiles me thinks.
