Are you planning to make a true-scale Rhino as well? One that might actually fít 10 marines?

Don't know what I can say that hasn't already been said, but wow, just wow. That dread turned out awesome. And yes, they do need a sweet rhino ride.

Or even better ... a Land Raider

That is one big drednaught. With 30 converted already that is pretty amazing. I would forsee a progect like this taking a long time to do.

Lol! Naturally nothing comes between a man and the love of his wolves!

Oh, that is so true...

Oh you bad, bad men... Truly, the love between a man and his wolves is a thing of terrible beauty! :-D

This is really inspirational stuff, I really cannot wait to see it all painted up! An awesome paint job on these bad boys will make for an incredible looking force for sure!

I'm practicing sculpting fur and wolf pelts so that I can revisit some of the models and add extra details before painting! I do plan on putting the same effort into painting as I have sculpting. I'm not at the GD level yet but I still score well in most painting competitions. With a little more hard labor I should be ready to give these models the attention they deserve!

Oh my giddy aunt!

I can't believe the sheer level of awesomeness!
I've been drooling so much over the last twenty minutes going through the thread that I needed to bust out the chapstick before my lips chapped!

SWEET! F*CKING! PROJECT!
PLEASE UPDATE MORE SOON!!

Thanks mate! I'm glad you are enjoying the progress so far and I'm dedicating all the time I can muster to keeping the project going. (With all the normal gamer/life distractions of course...) In the end I'm hoping to hit ~100 guys with vehicles and support but that will take a good deal of time to reach. Especially since I decided to build each model from scrath rather than have any bitz/pieces cast!

A Rhino template is in the works. I've drawn out the plans for both the Rhino and Land Raider and have been debating how much I will need to scrath build vs repurpose from other kits... Bjorn has well over 100 hours in him already, and with the army needing several Rhinos I need to find a semi-efficient build for them. I am planning to use the Land Raider track links for the Rhinos and the Baneblade Links for the Land Raider. I've got a bad feeling that I will be building a lot of other parts from plasticard...

Thanks! I miscouted and actually have 32 marines done + 1 Termie and Bjorn at ~80% converted. I can knock out a ten man squad in 2 or 3 weeks, so it is going to be a multiyear effort to be sure. At the outset I thought I could pull it off in a single year but as usual I was crazy optimistic! Of course after this build the next army will most likely feel like a breeze! :)

Ok everyone! I'm needing a little help with my termie pose. I've rearranged the arms into a new rough mock up and tacked it all together for feedback... so how does everybody feel about the following for an eventual, once all the hard sculpting is done, Grimnar model...

I must admit that I like this pose better than the original one here!

Any thoughts, suggestions or feedback would be much appreciated! Have a great day! :p

I like the new pose better as well, but I think I would turn his torso slightly to the left, bend his left arm a wee bit closer to the torso and then make him look forwards...

^Good suggestions to add even more coolness to the pose.
Although I must say I also like the old pose quite a lot, it looks like he's purpousfully striding into battle. But the new pose is a lot more dynamic.

Have you ever heard the term "speak softly, but carry a lerge stick"(Teddy Rosevelt). That is one big stick!!!! Great work, I hope you'll paint up a test model soon as I would love to see the paintscheme you will use.

Hello All!
It's been a while since I posted much. My gaming ADD has been in high form lately so I've floated bounced between projects even worse than normal! Plus I decided to start doing company payrolls as well so this has been a crazy busy month and now tax season is starting! So I have a couple of things I've been working on that I thought I would share for feedback purposes. I've made some changes to my WIP Grimnar model. He now has

- a slightly different pose applying several of Chrome's comments
- rounded shoulder pads (that could use a little buffing!)
- a wolf tooth necklace
- a first pass at hair
and
- a frame for where I plan to attach his braided stash
Some items are still tacked together so a couple of angles may look awkward at the moment but here are current pics:

...and now for one of many side projects that I have moved far enough along for photos here is a quick interpretation of a dark eldar venom

and to show that it was specifically built to hold 5 models here it is with passengers loosely attached. :)

as always C&C are very much appreciated and welcome!
Cheers,
/J

Thanks Chief! I actually made paper templates and notes of what I used so that I could make a couple more of these zippy little fellas. I had to find something to do with those extar Vypers that were lying around! :)

I have a couple...great ebay deals, with vypers I didn't need.
Care to share the templates?

Sorry for the gap! I have a pdf of the attachments ready to load but ot is 910kb. Does anyone know how to compress it to a smaller file? It is currently a pdf.

Here are some basic instructions on how I put the venom together.

Vyper Parts that need converted:

The canopy is the easiest thing to change. I carefully clipped and then filed the gemstones off the front and top.

The main frame is also fairly easy to change over. Remove the post at the rear and make a curved cut above the bottom sensor.

Also remove the front og the TL shuriken catapults:

A little more complicated is cutting the rear lower frame. First cut just behind the central hole and clip/sand off the gems. (You will have to rescore the angled line on the wings after sanding off the gems.)

Next cut the back wings in half, right down the middle.

One of the heavier alter parts is the rear gun deck. Cut along the red line and then cut away all of the white area in the middle. Clip and sand off the gems on the sides.

Now assemble the front pieces shown below to form the seat and base for the splinter cannon.

GLue the rear wing tops and bottoms together. You will need to remove and file some of the lower wing area where it will meet the plasticard platform so that the platform will 'slot into it a little.'

Using the template to cut out the various plasticard pieces you now have the pieces for the main model assembly. (The deck is cut from 1.5mm card.)

The tab on the plasticard should be an almost perfect fit into the slot of the front cockpit. This is why we cut away the post under the seat. From this angle you can see that the inside of the wing has been hollowed out a little to let it slot onto the deck in the next step.

Glue the wings onto the platform sides. They should fit just over the top of the plasticard.

You are ready for the last of the basic assembly at this point. The 0.75mm plasticard sides will follow the curve of the platform and glue onto the exposed interior of the wing assembly on each side. I used old splinter cannon arms that I had laying about for the main gun.

For the gun simply cut away the arm and top handle...

Then glue it into place where the TL shuriken guns should be. The curve that you cut into the frame should allow the curve of the splinter cannon to fit nicely like below:

Then the devil is imply in the details! I don't have the best pics of each step but at this point you can drill out the side rails and then carefully file out larger holes to give them some personality. Then you can add extra bitz left over from the lovely new Raider kits or anything else you may like! You can glue the lower deck assembly under the deck to extend it and then add the rounded rear. I also added another layer of decorative plasticard to take away the smooth floor surface. Underneath I added a couple of plastic tubes to simulate extra engines and I used some Grey Stuff to blend the armour together anywhere it looked unnatural.

On the front canopy I also clipped off some small horns from various models and glued them on to make it a bit spikey. For the pilot I used the standard vyper pilot and control panel with a new dark eldar head.

If you want to go crazy glue a few extra warriors into a set pattern and your venom can zoom around with a full complement! :)

Now if I can get the blasted pdf of the plasticard templates loaded I'll be happy!

Cheers!
