Truescale Space Wolves and Fluff Scale Dreadnought

Hi everyone! Tonight I'm offering up my first attempt at a truescale Rune Priest with his chooser. I stole parts from the new Njal model that I had laying about as he was way too small for my budding Wolf army! :)

Without further ado here is the current WIP:

I'm still learning on the hair parts and I may have exaggerated the fur on the loincloth that I added... but hopefully I can disguise these quibbles during the painting process! I am pretty happy with the way that decoration turned out on the Left Pad - Here's a close up:

And here is an initial mock up of Termie #4. I like the pose ok but I'm not sold on Wolf Claws being a sound investment in Game points. SOmeone with more experience at actually playing may clue me in a bit as to their effectiveness... :)

Please let the feedback fly! Cheers! /J

The wolf claws are an ok investment once you've bought the termie armour(since it's the same points cost total with or without the termie armour. 48 points for a normal marine with wolf claws... or the same for a termie with wolf claws? Hmm...), combine them with a wolf priest in the squad and you've got a constant reroll to hit and to wound against your selected preferred enemy.

I'm thinking of starting a white scars project (all Jesterz fault!), with fully converted marines (im hoping for each marine to be customised in some way) anyway, any tips for sculpting hair & in particular braided moustaches?

Today i'm offering up the 2nd Rune Priest WIP. Progress has been slow since I've been busy with my business but making money can never be a bad thing! :)

I still need to finish up the details on this fella. The wolf pelt will be hanging over the shoulders and attached with my favorite little shields. The wolf tooth necklace needs detailed and the hair needs to be better defined with some GS. I am finishing up 10 sets of legs for the next squad and will be working away on it for the next couple of weeks. I'm thinking it's time to revist the vehicles for the army. Dready is lonely! :)

Cheers! /J

Great pose on that rune priest mate, feels quite like a natural stance. Looking forward to seeing more!

Hmmmm... lol :D

This is one of the threads I enjoy watching the most, not only does it contain a lot of wolfy goodness, your improvements in handling GS is definitely tangible as well! :)

Sorry I missed this question earlier. Braided moustaches will likely cause you no end of aggravation. (Unless you are far luckier than I am.) My current process is to roll out a small GS sausage and depending upon where it needs to be on the mini I either put it in place or work on it off to the side on some wax paper or plasticard. After it cures for a while I use a wet Xacto knife to push small indentations into the sausage trying to keep the spacing fairly equal. I use a picture or a model with a braided stash that I like to get the pattern correct. It usually takes a couple of tries to get it the way that I want it to look and heaven forbid if it isn't touching the model in some places it becomes a real pain. In these situations you have to get it ready off to the side and then attach it to the model after it starts to cure but before it totally hardens so that you can still shape it overall. Hope this helps, I think with practice they'll get easier to create!

Thanks Chrome! I'm eager to improve and hope to rival your work in the future. Although I doubt that I'll ever capture some of the details you put into the Thunderwolf mount you're working up... :-D

Ok everyone. It's time for me to travel down the long road of truescale marine vehicles.... Before I post the first pics let me take you through my thoughts on the subject starting with the humble Rhino.

First off - the current Rhino is woefully undersized even for the current marine models. There is no way you can mathematically fit 10 of these guys into the back of the model. Unless space warps within the back of the model it just is not possible. With this in mind I decided to keep the Rhino silhouette while independently calculating the actual size of the model.

With the truescale marines I made the decision that they would need roughly 22mm of bench space to sit while riding to combat. I toyed with everything from 20-25mm but decided 22 would work ok if pressed. I also decided that the one setting on the end of a bench needed slightly less seat as he could angle his body around. With this basic convention I came up with a Rhino that will roughly be 180mm long x 120mm wide. I'm only making one to begin with as I want to be sure that it isn't too big after it is complete but I am creating paper templates of all the important structural components as I go so that I can easily recreate it if it becomes the standard for my wolves.

So without further ado here are a couple of early structural pics of the main compartment.

As oyu can see in pictures 2 & 3 I divided the bay into 2 seating sections. The rear section is designed to hold 6 marines while the forward section holds 4. In a razorback the forward section would be replaced with ammo storage an such. This gives a clean break between the 2 as far as the access doors go.

On this prototype I decided to seal up the driver compartment. I did however make sure that I could fit a couple marines in the sections and that their heads would line up with the front vision slits when seated. Once I settle on a design that I really like I'll make at least 1 that is fully detailed inside and out. :)

I'm going to use land raider doors on the sides to save some pain on my end. (Plus since I'm using Land Raider engines for dreads I'll have extra parts lying about anywho...) :p

I'll post some additional progress pics as I clean up the details and rough out the sides.

C&C is always welcome! Cheers! /J

Very Cool!
Be sure to share your templates when you settle on the exact one you like.
Nice work on the scale.
Love the logic behind the seating, and I really want to see the totally detailed version.

CHeers!

Hi, I've been lurking on this thread for a while, and I made this account just to comment... Anyways, I love your dreadnought, rhino, and all of the space wolves you made! You are my hero! I also wanted to ask if you had any templates or the dreadnought, because I'm gonna be starting a true scale pre-heresy luna wolves?
