Or you could cover it with little rivetted plates as well. At least all but the tip.
Hey, I think it looks all right as is anyway, but if you gotta be a perfectionist....

Just an idea for the back of the head- how about fuel canisters for the flamer?

(sorry I though of this as I was catching up but after you put the U- shape on) still if you needed something to add there its just an Idea. Would be \'praktikull too so\'z da mek boyz dont av ter keep tinkerin wiv its ead gubbinz ter re fuel!\'

Still looking fantastic!!! Think the grot bomb is a much better idea than the basilisk cannon. I personally think Forgeworlds grot bomb is pretty cool, so if your stuck for ideas and inspiration, just loot their designs!

I started messing around with the old Grot Bomb, trying to add detail.. The chain\'ll link around to the other side as \'reins\' for the grot to ride it with. I\'m not entirely sure how to make it look better, though.

It\'s obviously getting fins and a booster on the back.

since you have a \"star trek\" theme going on you could give the grot bomb guy a red shirt, as he\'s gonna die first when that thing launches.:D

It looks a bit.. silly. I think I\'m going to put the eye-stitching on afterall, as I can actually picture them as an electrified component of the eye-zzap cannons, but the ears and those head-pole things make it look a little more comical.

When I first drew that, and looked at it, I basically wrote it off. But looking at it sort\'ve grows on me, too, and now I\'m stuck in my typical creative ambivalence. Give it a second to just sit there and evaluate it. I can\'t seem to make up my mind. I\'ve been saying from the outset that I was going to redesign the head a little bit, anyway... but I don\'t know how faithful I should be to the original over something like this.

Anyway, the head\'ll be getting more detail in the back - my main priority in armoring it up was to protect the wiring that I\'ve done, both from primer and external sources, but I\'ll put some holes in it with cables running through into the head.. Just need to figure out where they\'ll go on the torso that I can still remove them. Making a sort of \'plug-in\' cable that attaches to the torso in that manner sounds good, but it\'s more work than I think I want to bother going through every time I remove or add the head on.

As for the grot bomb - once I get the shape right and attach fins, I\'m going to use a goblin wolfrider as the base for a conversion for a grot straddling the top of the bomb with a cowboy hat in hand waving it in the air. I think the way I\'m going to be making the rest of this is to add the launch ramp for it onto the back to fill in the \'hunch\' and go back to the head to add detail wherever visible after that.

I wouldn\'t go with the ears, that seems like a little too much. About the eyes, It might look good with that over it but instead of stitching, what about metal bars?

Montville here. Frequently stop at F&M hobby and Dark Tower Games, both on Rte 10 in Denville.

The guys at Dark Tower would LOVE to display this when you are done, if you don\'t already have a place of honor or are planning to auction. They have a lot of clean, safe glass display cases. Great shop too.

Where in NJ r u ?

Sorry for the DP

Looks great.

Metal bars over eyes...definitely!

Ears, maybe.
In keeping with general orcishness, they should probbly be asymmetrical.
Earring ????

You seem to have a very natural talent for fabrication.
Just curious....how old ( roughly ) and is any of this cool sh_t related to your chosen profession ????

I am quite sure many of us just dream about taking something this ambitious and putting it through the paces.
You have a lot of folks vicariously digging the whole thing, especially with your excellent photos, WIP and solicitation.

I would love to see more of these....

cfwheeler:

I live in North NJ - Ringwood, NJ, to be precise. My intentions for this piece are actual gaming, as well as just display (hence the smaller mini-base) so I would like to keep it handy and available, and Montville isn\'t exactly on my way. :p I usually lurk around Hiway Hobbies on Route 17 or the Games Workshop in the Palisades Mall at West Nyack, NY, so leaving the model at one of those would be inconveniencing if I wanted to play at an event at the other. More likely than not it will live in the display cabinet in my bedroom for now.

I\'m 19, and a prelaw student, so no, this unfortunately has no relevant bearing to anything I do. :p

Great progress! I agree with some of the others about the ears being a not so good direction. I like the idea of bars or mesh on the eyes. Maybe add some more wires or some antenna on the top of the head. Or a crazy ork on top in a lawn chair and umberella or something silly like that.

I was kinda hoping you\'d go for a more organic shaped display instead of the rectangle, but that\'s just a personal hang up of mine. You still have to be able to move the monster. The diorama details are quite nice. Tells a good story.

Really an inspired piece!

fantastic work, really amazing :)

my one sugestion to throw in is to make the bullet belt affected by the forward charge of the machine. It doesn\'t look quite right just hanging down.

other than that......spot on :D

cheers

I tried making a new bomb.. it lacks wings, but I think I ended up making it too big. I\'m not going to lie to you guys, I think from the shoulders up I\'m not entirely happy with the way this is looking right now. Something about the head (especially towards the back) is bothering me, and the rocket\'s proving to be a pain to make.. bleh.
