I unfortunately didn\'t read this until a bit late. Still, I can\'t be too picky, as I basically salvaged the guard from scrap I had laying around.

....

...

The base is... incredible. Wow.

Anyways, how many of your posts have been in this thread? lol You\'re fast become a full member from this one WIP (though it\'s a big one, at that). It brings back good memories when I first saw that Mark Gibbons sketch, and to see it come this far. I figured you\'d have a fairly bare base, but what you\'ve done is FAR better.

Back in the 90s when I used to wear a leather bikers jacket over jeans, I had 2 belts... one on the jacket and one on my jeans...

I am still stunned at how well this is all going - keep up the momentum mate!! This could well be the most interesting thread on any forum anywhere!

I just thought - when brushing the elmers on, if too much of the sand comes off, dont forget you can sprinkle more on top and the elmers should bond it all

;)

Could we have 1 or 2 more photos of the squashed grot?

Couldn\'t see it that well in the last ones :/

Also - couldn\'t you just knife\\file one of the extra belts of the guardsmen? Or cover them up with an extra bit of detail?

Just an aside on if you want to enter this in Golden Demon. I don\'t think it needs to be entered in the OPen. Should be fine for 40k vehice. The basing restrictions say that vehicles may be placed on a base no more than 2cm larger than the vehicle. Although your base is far larger than that, you have a lift-out gaming base which would be perfectly legal. Worst case scenario the Judges would just ignore the display base. This kind of thing happens a fair amount in GD.

And I\'ll add my thought to say it\'s looking very impressive...

Your piece is terrific!!!I hope you will compete for the GD.
The conversion only can grant you the bronze, for sure, and maybe a job at Forgeworld(I think they live in yachts with beauties everywhere)

You know what the craziest idea would be?

Wiring the base with real lightning(lamp,explosions...).
That would be terrific(as amount of hours and wiring).

:]

I\'ve been told, the catachan legs have a belt, as do the cadian torsos.. so I dissembled the two guardsmen, chopped the belts off, and repaired them again.

I put the gargant on it\'s base just to see how it\'s all shaping up. I added the ammo belt in just a few minutes ago - I know it needs to be shortened and hang better, I\'m about to go do that with some bent paperclip cuttings to make it hang closer to the weapon. Also, the gun arm is holding it up, again. The blue thing that was supporting it from underneath kept falling out now with the new terrain, and as I haven\'t screwed the gargant to it\'s base yet it\'ll have to just hold itself up like that for now.

And just for fun.

I think I can add in some cabling to the top of the head, and some orky eyebrows.

Still, nothing really new for the head. Same old same old.

Or is it?

What\'s that on the back there?

Hm..

Flipping it over we can get a look at some of Ein\'s super-barbaric wiring.

Results?

Now to build a flamer and disguise that toggle switch a bit.

um, just something for you to think about if you haven\'t, your gonna have to remove (or cover) the windows and lights. Looking good.

You know, I heard a rumour once upon a time that the defiler was originally just a random player\'s converted model, which GW liked, and since they were on the look out for a new demon-engine model they grabbed it up.

If that rumour were true, I would love it if your gargant went the same way.

@ Minimon - if you haven\'t already - welcome to the forums! :)

@ Whoever it was suggesting adding sound to the base- this is feasible, by using the same mini speakers as used in greetings cards, but to program these
(As I understand it - I had a similar idea a while back) requires a quite expensive piece of equipment...

Unless of course, you want the gargant blasting out \"Celebrate, good times - Come on!\"

Which I guess might ACTUALLY work:
\"Celebrate good times CMoN!\" lol

------------------------------------------------------

And just something ELSE I\'ve noticed - with the fleeing guardsman, he still looks angry rather than terrified...

It SHOULD be quite easy to just file the down-tilted eyebrows and raise (With green stuff) them in order to make him look scared rather than angry...
