Post-UK Games Day

Tee hee hee! :D My cousin (the guy who was my guardian for the day, Tim at least met him) saw the Slann and on an impulse bought it for me :D I\'m cleaning him right now, and then sticking his arm on. Looks like a fun mini to paint, and quite a bargain at £7.00...! Streets of Birmingham sounds super

I agree about the times, should make a propper day of it! However, I doubt that GW would be prepared to pay their staff for another 2 hours without raising the ticket price to £30 (plus another quid on the blisters, a fiver on tanks, round off squads to £20 and 50p on the paints for good measure too! ...must resist...back to the point!)

Not only that but people would have to set off earlier and get home later. Whilst this is not a problem for me (As I only live in sunny coventry I can roll out of bed at 8am, have a good ball scratch and some breakfast and still be near the front of the que!) I would imagine someone from Scotland would be less enthusiastic abou it(this is not a dig at scottish people- I like iron bru.)

These are just some reasons why they may be against it. Another, more cynical reason is , I believe, that due to sunday trading laws they can only retail between the hours of 10-4. So they let us in the moment we are allowed to spend money and kick us out the moment we are not.

By all means, there is no harm in asking for a longer games day, especially as some people travel so far that they need their passports.

I intend on writing to them regarding a few other issues, so I will certainly include this request in my letter. An alternative may be to arrange to meet up for 9am at the flagpoles by the pavillion enterance. That would give us half an hour or so to chat in the que, and possibly arrange to go for a drink or meal fpr an hour or two after the event.

Although meeting up at 09:00 by the flag poles may sound like a good idea I would rather meet inside, after all look at the way the skies emptied on Sunday morning that was not fun at all :(

If we want to natter before hand we all have entries to put in so why not linger for longer by the repair tables where we were, after all we didn\'t get moved on this year :D

Both my entries made first cut, despite my giant needing major repairs before registration, and then having to take him out of the cabinet cause the grot tickling the foot of the halfling in the sack with a feather fell off later!

I vaguely remember loaning something from my repair kit to, or at least discussing the whereabouts of the superglue with someone with a giant at the repair table...

That wasn\'t you was it?

Ben

I think it was me ;)

Giant with Goblin fighting platform ;)

And me sporting a pornstar/finn style moustache ;)

Yep, that was it!!!

Lovely model, the water was really very nicely done.

I remember thinking at the time \"Have I missed something? Is there some reason why all the serious CMON people are leaving it until the last 10 mins before close of registration to put their entries in?\"

There did seem to be a rush of really nice models went in in the last half hour or so... was that intentional or just a coincidence?

I think you will find it was coincidence as a lot of people arrived later thinking it would be a bit quieter but this year it seemed busier than ever especially around the repair/entry prep tables.

So it was you :). The pic isn\'t doing it justice IMHO. I remember the colors were a lot more vibrant than what can be seen here.

Not for me.... I finished painting at 10am that morning and in 2 hours I had to get washed and dressed, dullcote the mini, and get from Shrewsbury to Birmingham... I arrived at 11:50...

Hi guys,

Sorry its taken me this long to post, but I\'m without an internet connection at the moment. Couldn\'t quite believe my luck at the weekend, at most I was hoping for a bronze, but I came away with two golds. I was really delighted

It was really great to meet people from CMoN, in particular Orb, TBS and Talonicus in the pub. It was also great that the CMoN Vostroyans got through to the finals

I\'ll try and get some pics of my entries up soon (there are some fairly crappy pics of my bretonnians in my gallery already, but I\'ll try and get better ones done).

Congrats to all the other CMoNeers that won, certainly was a good day for members of this site.

Cheers

Matt
