Attention Seeking, basically.

From a contestants point of view it\'s saying \"I care enough about my mini(s) to try to show them at their best advantage\".
It\'s trying to find a balance between displaying the mini well and not making it look lost on a sea of wood, which is the real trick.

Plinth Bases.

I paint miniatures for display. It\'s akin to putting a picture frame on a painting. It\'s presentation. It presents the miniature to the viewer. That\'s my take.

Oh, and it looks nicer to me.

Historical shows nearly all miniatures are on plinth bases.

Thanks Mike for posting these pics. LOL I have just noticed that i must of handed in the wrong slip. My mini has a different ticket than everyone elses. :) oh well. I might do something right next year. :)

Congrats to all that placed!

what does a green dot on the entry form mean?? ???

When you hand in your models at GD UK, they are already being pre judged. If they feel the piece warrents a good look they put a green dot on the tag and put it in a certain part of the case. This way when evcerything has been entered every model has already had a good look at and they have narrowed the field down to a hundred models or so per category. This way they can spend more time judging them to pick a final cut of 10-20 or so and then 1-3rd place. Since they only have about 3 hours to judge after entrys are done at noon they need to basically start as the models are being handed in.
So to get a green dot means you painting skills are to a level that they want to take a closer look again after entrys are done.

Nope, they all go in the cabinets. You hand the entries to the team and they put them in the cabinets. It just means they are judging straight away. It\'s normally a good sign if they put the green sticker on before they put it in the cabinet :)
