Both my entries made first cut, despite my giant needing major repairs before registration, and then having to take him out of the cabinet cause the grot tickling the foot of the halfling in the sack with a feather fell off later!

I vaguely remember loaning something from my repair kit to, or at least discussing the whereabouts of the superglue with someone with a giant at the repair table...

That wasn\'t you was it?

PS: I loved the Dryad squad.... totally awesome! Did you get the leaves for the different species of trees all etched specially, or did they come from some (very) specialist scenery modelling supplier?

Thanks for the comments much appreciated, especially since I\'m such a newbie.
The leaves were brought over the net from scalelink.co.uk, although they were a bit on the pricey side. [/quote]

Well, they were worth it!!

I loved the autumnal theme with them all being different autum colours, just like you\'d get in a real wood....

The extra hard work and expense was certainly appreciated by many I think :)

I certainly remember my mate Chris and I looking at it when it first went in the cabinet and saying \"That\'s lovely, such a wonderful idea, very well executed... that should get a demon\".... very glad to see it did!

hey

Is Albert the youngest sword winner???

He was in youngbloods (13 years old I think) in 2001 or 2002... (i think i remember this when I saw some of his works..although haven\'t checked just now)..

that would mean he\'s 18 or 19 years old now.

(Bill - your new challenge?) hehe

Just thinking back, did I grab the Slayer winner out of a cabinet for someone from here at the end of the day to photograph? Avalorn perhaps? My brain had melted by this point but I somehow recognised the face!

yep that was me...!! I\'m so happy that it was you.. because then I can personally thank you again.. :) My brain was also on meltdown.. and still is! lol It was awesome to see his mini that up close! The photos didn\'t turn out nice enough for posting though.

Actually all the GW staffers I met was excellent, helpful, happy... Pat yourself on the back!

Kaleth Black heart (I know his name but I don\'t dare try to spell it..lol) took slayer in Spain when he was like.. 15-16 (if I remember correctly) and Andrew Cromwell took slayer in some GD in USA when he also was like 15-16 (i.I.r.c.).

So Bill.. you still got some tim left! :D

Hmm, may have been, I was too busy panicking as the thing would not stick together, so my apologies if I seemed rude or hassled and was unsociable!

The Dryads were excelent- well done on the demon! Very well executed. There was a fantastic treeman in the monster category too, but IMHO the artist put a tad too many of the brass leaves on him, as it was more tree and less man! Still a beautiful model though!

Theres a link in another thread in \'general discussion regarding Golden demon (the bottom link from the new forgeworld Great unclean one) that has a gallery with about 46 odd pics- one of them is the nightbringer with moth wings an dit is gorgeous!

Having specifically been told that joint entries were banned (By Tom himself).... how did they manage to award demons in two categories to joint entries?

It isn\'t meant to happen. Seth Nash (Capt Spalding) and Matt Parkes did it once a while back and got severely told off for it apparently!

The problem is that when judging is going on they have no clue who has entered the things they are looking at (well that\'s not strictly true, a lot of the time they were recognising people\'s styles but they hadn\'t actually been told so and so did this model) so it is only after judging has been completed and the ticket numbers cross referenced with the list of entrants that anyone would have discovered that they are joint entries. By that time it would be too late to do anything about it other than banning the winning people who had teamed up, so it is an akward situation.

In future perhaps someone not involved in final judging could check the names of the people making final cut, but that\'s a big task!

Sorry I didn\'t realise who you were at the time Avelorn and sorry that the pictures didn\'t come out too well (down to my less stable than they should be hands by any chance?). It was a really subtle model though too, so I guess that is going to mean that in the awful NEC lights it wouldn\'t show that well. Congrats on placing in one of the toughest cattegories too!

Next year I will be entering along with everybody else, so I should be able to say hello to everyone from here. I\'m looking forward to it already!

It was really great meeting you all guys! Congratulations to all the winners, well done!

I must admit, this GamesDay was the most exhausting for me -- it seemed like there were much more people than the previous year, and they were at least twice as loud! :)

I loved that Nightbringer a fantastic mini don\'t undersell yourself with modesty/.. Great result for your first entry....

I got two finallists ...echanicus cultist and carnosaur with extra spikes... Was happy with this has despite best intentions I only got to spend a short time on each and ended up with some bases that were too big for dsplay but it was all a bit last minute...My mate Tony also did well with a final cut in the duel he did The lictor jumping through the window at a marine.....

we were both happy as we aimed for final cutthis year and got it and will be ack for more.......

congrats to all who entered .....

p.s
I think the lack of French was down to the Paris Open not so long back.....

Yeah that giant was fantastic. A really cool idea and I second the request for information on how you did the water.
