Scherdy's Happy Place - WIP/paintlog

Yes it was a nice paint along. Wish I'd been in on it. Dark green is of course a useable shade for green skins, but the use of red knocks it OVER the moon. I see you used this in places on his face, perhaps incorporate it everywhere?

Your finish appears maybe a bit.....bumpy??? Could be a dilution issue, could be a prep issue, could just be the nature of the sculpt. Or even the photography. Either way good work so far.

Looks like I will see you today.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure this is a recast from china. I got it in a trade and it's resin and not finecast. It had some issues but it was thrown in the trade and now I think I'm pretty sure I know why. It was also greasy/oily after being washed from the resin that was used not being totally mixed properly or the mixture was out of balance so it wanted to really bead up paint even through the primer at first.

I'm enjoying it so much that I'll probably pick up an actual one to do later so this may be just a fun practice piece but i'll make it as nice as I can. Looking forward to meeting up today!

At paint get together this evening the host took pictures of my centurion with his new camera. Wanted to share them here.

Anyhow got to meet up with BFoK and Danemccray who are both as cool as advertised and hoping to have plenty of paint sessions in the future.

Yes definitely enjoyed myself and the company! You guys are great, just wish we'd gotten together years ago! Photos came out great and I can say irl it's a beautiful paint job!

Seriously what were we doing? I'm just saying that there is waterfront property in Tacoma or Puget Sound too...

Florida is way too humid and who wants to deal with gators?

So here is the (pretty much??) end result of this guy. Going to set him aside unless there is some pointing out of stuff to go back over. My first go at any NMM (thanks for the help BoK). Going to move on to another thing and think about how I'll base him.

My thick hide will protect me, so feel free to critique away!

Almost Perftec! Aw, crap.
That looks like a good place to stop, You could push your highs and lows a touch more you could also do that later after basing him is he doesn't pop from the base enough. Nice palette too :)

Gr8 job on this wonderful model I think it's in the hall of fame for white dwarf and GW models, basically 20 years ago and still stands up to the models of today.

You all are too nice! I can take it, I've taught middle school. They're way more cruel than any of you :)

appreciate the kind feedback though. Next is a space marine since I've not actually painted one. Is that some sort of painting rite of passage? It seemed a good one to work with simple volumes and work on smooth blending.

Haha, I'm sure some people will say yes you must paint one. Smurfs FTW!!

No smurfs for me. Have been a big big fan of Canny's Sons of Medusa marine since seeing it and I'm using that as as starting point, or something close at least. Thought about blue, but I feel like I've done a lot of blue in the past so why not change it up?
