Finished him as far as I can now. I have some wooden display bases coming. Once I have them I'll construct something for him (and the others) and then attach the other bits of plant life to him.
Very happy with the cloth and steel on this. I think it turned out really well.

On to Broga next. I'm going for red armour, so will post once I've done about 10 thin base coats!

That turned out great! I agree with you, the metal is of extremley high quality. Very fine work sir.

Thanks both. It is quite a busy mini, so really glad I stuck with the limited colour scheme. I was a bit worried about doing the flowers pink but I think they work. Not too distracting.

Well I am impressed by the GW mephiston red. A nice solid base coat after only two thing coats. I was expecting to need a lot, specially over black primer!

Broga is now well underway. Onto the third highlight now. I'm going to do a little shading next and then work up to some edge highlights.

Looking rather pink right now but that will go once I start glazing. Going for a bit of an old school style with this one. I may even enter it in a contest. I have a good feeling about it and I've never entered any kind of competition before and about time I started taking part!

Thanks Milosh.

Got the armour done this evening. Doesn't look too pink now. Depending on whether I go for gold or silver elsewhere I may add some more yellow glazes.

Made a start on the skin. Phone camera doesn't show it too well bt looking nice.

Looking good!

don't do it. You know your weakness, try to overcome.
You're right, of course. I will get at least a strike team from each side done before I break. I don't think I'll get the ALL done before I need a break - that's like 70+ models.

What to say?... Excellent job on the Flower Knight, really nice metallics!
For the red NMM, really nice idea for the yellow glaze afterward, I always use orange and yellow with the red paint, but pink then white, adding a yellow glaze to remove the pink color is a nice idea. I will give it a try. Just one point, I think there is not enough highlight, too much mid color. Maybe it is coming from the picture....

Wow, I'm really grateful you've taken time to comment guys. Such a welcome back into painting and glad I haven't entirely lost any skills I had.

TrystanGST - swap? I'll finish this and then steal your ideas for my sedition wars minis?

KruleBear - nothing to teach really. I think it's down to thinning the paint enough and having the patience to do lots of thin coats. When I see bad paint jobs it's usually because the paint has been applied to thick.

Milosh - thank you!

Boubi - Thankyou! I can't take credit for that though. I read Mike's SBS on the studio mcvey blog. Does seem to work well. Agree about the pic. It has more contrast in real life, although not too much. Easy to make it too pink or orange of I go crazy.

10 Ball - Praise indeed! I'm happy if I can encourage somebody to finish a mini. I know what it's like to get so far then jump to the next. I've been very guilty of that in the past and promised myself I wouldn't do it again. (Now I've done this red I'm itching to start the space hulk terms!).

I don't know if there's anything to steal - I'd hardly call what I'm doing to them painting. More like coloring. It's fast, it's messy, but it passes the three foot rule, and what more can you ask of a gaming piece?

what's the three foot rule?

Question for you all! Should I add battle damage to this guy or not? I think it could really work well and might fit the narrative better but I'm not overly confident I can pull it off.

Worth the risk?

Three foot rule is a tabletop gaming standard - hold the mini at arm's length (3 feet) and if it looks good, you're good.

As for battle damage, I'd say go for it, but I'd be nervous of messing up that gorgeous red too...

I'm not sure on the battle damage, Really like the clean, crisp red you have going on there and think maybe the damage will detract from it a bit. Maybe a light weathering rather than damage would be better?
Thats my 2 cents fo what its worth :)
