This is where we\'re supposed to say something cool or really obscure to make ourselves sound interesting isn\'t it? Ok, I tend to listen to things like Killers, Snow Patrol, Arctic Monkeys etc but my favourite music to paint to is Dave Greenslade\'s Discworld album - so there

I like a broad range of music from Tool to Pink Floyd to Inuit throat chanting.
I tend to listen to slower music while painting as it helps me relax.
At the moment I seem to be going through a Bjork fase with a little Porcupine Tree in the mix.

I have been listening to a lot of old school stuff lately. On my current playlist is-

Basement Jaxx
Arctic Monkeys
AImee Mann
Simply Red
Jack Johnston
The Hives
Chicane
Blackstreet
James
Labi Siffre
Kings of Leon
Green Velvet
The Smiths
The Libertines
Blur
Orbital

I am especially liking James atm, I listened to one of their albums a few times yesterday.

\"we get both kinds of music here: country AND western.\"

(the opinions expressed are not those of the management or the speaker but is merely a humorous quote from a great movie)

So lets see.

In My car I have:

REM
Freshly Ground (local group)
Mean Mr Mustard (Local Group)
Parlotones (Local Group)
and two others that I can\'t remember.

About to buy
Lordi - (hehe, can\'t say no to schlock rock)

Also I tend to like college rock - it all sounds the same, but that\'s one of the reasons I enjoy it. (Good charlotte, Bowling for Soup - etc)

and then there\'s always classical which makes an appearance every so often.

If you hadn\'t thrown in that last one I would have accused you of exaggerating.
People often say they have \"eclectic\" taste in music - they like disco and punk rock (or some such variation on the same genre).
My dad had true eccentric taste in music. Along with his vast opera collection and jazz collection were such great themes as Alpine Yodeling, Australian Diggerydoo, the music of the bullfights, Latin Mass performed on traditional African drums, Elvis\' Christmas Album. . . .

Sheesh........where to begin.

Right now getting folky and political with Seize the Day, plus rediscovering the still strong Chumbawumba wordsmiths.

always like my ambient dub; some compilations like Dubnology Vol 1, Feed Your Head, Planet Dub and you discover such gems as the Knights of the Occasional Table (John Barleycorn 2000 - superb). Banco de Gaia - Last Train to Lhasa.

like folky stuff but needs a modern slant......

Lush, Back to the Planet, and a host of stuff..

PWEI......turn it on and turn it up high!

For the most part I listen to either electronica in various forms, anything from ambient or trance to house or dance, usually when I\'m working. If not that, then usually Rap (NOT R&B), which is what I usually choose when I\'m painting. Mostly older stuff, tribe called quest, 2pac, Nas, etc...but some newer stuff mixed in as well.

Not really a popular option in these forums it seems, but I grew up on various forms of rock, and have gotten rather tired of the genre. So while I still have all that around, I hardly ever put it on.

I can\'t be the only one?!

I listen to mostly indie stuff eg
Arctic Monkeys
Franz Ferdinand
The Strokes
The White Stripes
The Libertines
The Raconteurs
Dirty Pretty Things
Blur
Red Hot Chilli Peppers
And other stuff. Isn\'t it funny that when someone asks you about something like that, you just completely forget an example.

Didn\'t you read the disclaimer? That was just a quote from Blues Brothers. I never actually said I liked country and western. I\'m more of a bluegrass fan, though lately I\'m listening to a lot of Regaeton.

[edit] Johnny Cash and White Stripes don\'t often make the same list. Cash was remarkable. I\'d be happy in a world of Johnny Cash and Roy Orbison music.
