I've not managed to get much painting done this week, it's been busy at work, and my hobby / home office room is the coldest room in the house (the double glazing is terrible), and with the temperature dropping it's been hard to motivate myself to spend any time in there!
However, I did promise myself to move the Blood Claw along today, so I whipped out the paints and made a bit of progress.
I wanted to try a few different techniques on this guy, starting with trying out a bit of glazing too do some smoother transitions. In some places, I think this has come out pretty well, in others it's a a lot rougher. I tried to be a bit more adventurous with the eye lenses, to make them more interesting, but I'm not a big fan of the glowing eye effect, so I just tried to make them look a little reflective.
I also had a few places on the model where the preparation was not too good (one of the shins had a purity seal which I'd scraped off years ago, and was clearly visible after painting), so I wanted to make this look a bit more like battle damage. This wasn't something I've attempted before, so in some places it's a bit much, but I do like the effect, so with a bit of refining for future models, I think that's something I'll continue trying.
Also did a bit of free hand on both shoulder pads. The one is the pack marking (which still needs work), but the other, which is the sigil of chosen Great Company (Krom Dragongaze), I think hasn't come out too badly for a first attempt.
With him moving along quite nicely, I thought today was as good a time as any to stick him together too.
Not shown here, but I've also started work on the base, but there's nothing to interesting to show about that!
On to the photos (WIP, but taken in the photo booth just so I could get in a little tighter with the pictures) - hope they show up as I'm linking to my Flikr account
Any suggestions, comments or criticisms welcome.
Thanks
