Just a quick teaser: here is where I was up to at lunch time, just before I started the weathering. Hopefully tomorrow will see the completion of the first squad of troops.

Dude I\'ll crap on you now. Hah no...no I wont. They look damn nice and they are pretty bright, but it looks cool, very...industrial metal. Play a gig. :) I like \'em.

Here we go, this was finished off on Thursday, but things have been so full on lately I haven\'t had a chance to take and post the pics for you guys. So here they are, they\'re not amazing photos but they give you a good idea of what they look like now.

The other thing is, these have been now varnished, but I need to add a few layers of gloss clear over the lava, with some glazes of reds and yellows to add to the \"heat\" appearance a bit.

2 more batches of 12 to go, then onto something else - maybe terminators :)

The rifling inside the barrel is very nice.
Did that come that way? What is the original tube from?

I think these guys could use a little more color, right now they look good but not terribly flashy. I convinced my buddy Tom to use a bit of the patina copper on his Iron Warriors and it does add some nice contrast. You might be able to work some in there as well, I know you did on the Ripley bot :)

Yeah, I been trying to work out how to add some extra colour. i was originally thinking adding in the banner amongst the troops would help break it up but it\'s not enough.

I have been considering doing some patina around some edges, I\'ll play around with it and see if it will work...

i think if there iron warriors each squad should be done in a differant metal because they are chaos, right, and they are slightly ragtag kinda guys so some squads are more damaged than others

Well, here we go! I\'ve finally finished the main painting of the base troops and havocs. All that is left after the varnish is to gloss the lava with several layers of Tamiya clear, and then they\'ll all be done. I\'m not going to town on the rust effects and stuff and details because these are the base troops. The more intense effects will begin once I get that far on the terminators and such.

Here\'s what the table looked like this arvo before I took the models to get varnished:

Here\'s the pics of what I\'ve done so far; 36 troops with various weapons:

I should have these finished tomorrow for proper pics, and have started on the colour blocking of the dread.

the blue weapons really pick out from the models and add colour, its more noticeable on this unit than your normal marine units. Awesome job mate, keep it up.
