Iron Warriors uber bang bang death army

Where\'s the demon hiding? Maybe a little something to show the container which it inhabits. More chains and seals then fleshy bits I\'m thinking. Other then that, Good God man! Enough! My poor ego can\'t take anymore! :D

p.s. I am so nicking the tentacle mouth idea.

I\'m working on the ideas for how it\'s all gonna work Chaos wise...Keep in mind that the concept pic idea is simply a rough idea of how some of it will work. The main sections I will be using are the arms and partially the legs and some of the body plating. Other than that it\'s going to be more a variant of the ripley than an entirely new pattern...

Steal whatever you like, just don\'t steal the model from my house!

Well, since I haven\'t started painting yet, I\'ve started Ripleys twin sister, the clone with the alien child within! Yeah, that\'s a cool idea, chained within the belly of this beast lies a daemonically possessed alien host...mwahahahhaahahahah!!!

Ahem...anyways...

Have a look at these pics, the main complaint I had about Ripley was the legs seemed a little weedy. Here\'s an attempt at making them look a bit bulkier, although just keep in mind this is not the final pose, it\'s all bluetacked (oh god I HATE getting bluetack out of models!) in place to give me the impression I want.

Here\'s the box I begin with. This box is the whole of the bits I have set aside to draw upon for the second upright defiler:

And here is what the second hip-leg structure looks like at this point in time:

I find it really hard to copy the Ripley because I want the second to have a similar feel but it\'s own individuality. You know, like how Ripley original had normal humanity and Ripley clone had acid blood, black fingernails and crazy wild insane behaviour?

Well, lets see if we can capture some of that...hmm...I think that\'s all captured in Ripley 1...doh!

Ok, hows this sound.
Bend it down at the waist, add long arms, a tail, and a aliens\'ish head (techo version). So you get something a an ape like pose with the weapons on the back and claws on the arms. Skinny arms and legs may not be a problem then, hell go for the skinny, light weight, and fast model. It would be a nice counterpoint to Ripley, and contuine the Aliens theme.

Personally I don\'t like it. The way you have done the body makes it look almost organic which makes the turret look incongruous.

I agree with the Dr. on that one. I find the conceptual design to be a bit better, I\'d just remove the head turret and flatten out the area add studs around the edges and leave it like that. Whats scarier than an enemy which you can\'t cut a head off of? Heh. I do like the primitive pose though, good stuff like usual from you.

I think the defining feature of that sketch is the shoulders.

The head is also kinda embedded in the chest, underneath armor plates. I think having something of a face peeking out from underneath some massive shoulder plates would be cool for this guy. The old Predator head is pretty strange looking, I\'m not a fan.

I\'ve been looking at this thing all arvo and I can\'t get started or any fresh ideas...even with the concept which indicates I\'ve got a bit of creative block. To help alleviate this and waste no more time, I\'ve decided to simply stick to the Ripley design and just do the weapon variations and maybe a different styled CCW instead. Save the monsterbot for another project at another time...

More to come tomorrow when I get back on track.

Sucks when you run out of ideas some times... anyway I think another Ripley style one is a good idea for the meantime. I\'d recommend a different CCW style instead of the spikey blade stuff, that would help distinguish between the two very quickly. A mace of some sort would be my advice.

As a side note I should say that I was really looking forward to Spiderbot :p

I\'ve been playing around with this and here is a cannon stand in I\'m working on. The plan is to make it like a huge rate of fire minigun style weapon with explosive shells, that will count as a defiler cannon in all ways. I am going to replace the current barrels with an assault cannon style set with some shielding and other differences.

I think I\'ll go with the arm mounted idea instead of the shoulder mounted, but have a look at the two designs and let me know what you reckon.

Or shoulder:

BTW, if I did the shoulder part it wouldn\'t have that arm section sticking up in the air like that...lol

I think the shoulder is ok, but in the pics the arm mounted one grabs me more. I like how the cannon is coming along though, the details are finally getting easier on this part...

it really seems that, because he(she?) is standing on 2 legs, when the shoulder cannon fires, it would knock him over..if he were on all 4\'s it would make more sense..at least with the arm mounted cannon, he can adjust it closer to his center of gravity..plus, shoulder mounted cannons are for filthy eldar!

LOL! Ok, convinced. Noooo filthy eldar antics for me, I shall go with the beefy \"Smack it into yer face\" Khornesque cannon deal... :)

The arm-mounted canon is also much, much closer to the inspirational drawing you posted.

The Blood God is pleased
(As well as, Gork. Or is it Mork?) No panzie Eldar weapon systems. Big and Brutal!

Well, since everyone is clamoring for my attention and dying in droves because I haven\'t updated this log in ...4days... I guess I\'d better show something. :)

ANYHOO! Back to reality - I\'ve decided I hate working on this defiler and the sooner it\'s finished the better. SO! That means that the job has been finished, no questions asked coz I couldn\'t be AR$ED to do any more conversion work on it. This will do I think. So happy or not, this is what it is! :) I tried adding chains but I couldn\'t do anything I was happy with , so it\'s another chainless beast. But it is very spikey. Very spikey and trophied (not atrophied) is good.

I figured the head wouldn\'t be too bad on this one, and I do like how it works, although I WILL have to name it Conan the Destroyer (Destroyer for short) given it\'s massive pinhead look.

And a family shot of Conan with Ripley:

Don\'t they make a lovely couple?

The final fitout of this one is Defiler cannon, Twin linked Lascannons and Havoc Launcher. For those hankerin for a shoulder mounted gun, there it is! For those yearning for a chest mounted weapon, there be ye lasers!
