Drafting a Cmon Army:Banding for charity

I think Confrontation would be good, since it is not that unknown and a warband has a more manageable size than a whole army. Warmachine on the other hand is, I fear, not big enough to attract enough people. GW has larger armies and you get a lot in boxed sets, also I have no ambition to paint 25 Spearmen....

So, for a skirmish I think I would participate, or for a GW army that has less models. I don\'t want to paint more than, let\'s say 3 models, I couldn\'t fit that into my schedule at a sensible time (university and all). I can get basically everything around here, GW; Rackham, Reaper, Privateer Press, Fenryll, you name it.

I\'m fortunate in that cost won\'t be an issue, time it takes to paint will be. I am confident in being able to up a small unit (12 or so figures with a week for every five or so after that) by the end of January, though shipping will take at least six days from Oz to Europe/North America.

I agree GW fetches the best prices. The commitment in the number of miniatures goes up substantially (Unless something like Witch Hunters or the Ogre Kingdoms figures).

I would like to get in too (off-topic note: I found that the only way for me to paint minis is to have a deadline, so I\'m getting in the most of these things I can lol).

My preferences would be something easily obtained in Europe through an on-line store (I have no other option), like GW or Rackham.
I also don\'t think that I can paint more than two minis. I always give my best when painting (don\'t mind my ranking, I really try hard :D) and if I had to paint ten minis it would take me a year.

This forum was definately the best thing that happened to me regarding this hobby :)

I would like to help as well if some one could send me some info. Also some thing else to think of is mabey a WFB Chaos army they are esay to make a small sizeable army and would be a lot morefor giving with different painting styles they also do well on ebay especly with convertions.
Also if you go with warmachine I mite be able to help a disbuter of it lives down the street from me and if I talk to him I could probly get them at cost
What ever is chosen let me know how I can help.:D

P.S. sorry my spelling and grammer is about as good as a gnoblarlol

That Chaos Army sounds like a pretty good idea too. Basically, what we need is some rag-tag-army that can disguise all our different painting styles by looking like it should be that way ;)

On a slightly related note, I just received Alfonse :bouncy:

Chaos would allow for a lot of variety, and the number of figures needn\'t be huge, or if someone is really keen can be quite large.

I think that this is a \"Great Idea\" and shows exactly how much of a Community CMON really is.
I may not have enough time ATM to paint anything up but I\'m willing to supply some stuff for those that need it.

Since I\'ve got a few minutes to wait before my contact comes back from lunch and to avoid Becca from going back through all the posts, here are the people that seem to want to participate for the moment :

Not bad at all for a start :). We\'ve got enough for a skirmish size army and can still grow to a more substantial size one if more people join in ;).

Could people with a \"?\" confirm before Wednesday please?

this is why i love this fourm

this is amazing! thank you all so much!

i agree that each mini should have importance, and not just be part of a regiment or what have you, each one should be able to completely show off our unique painting ability, i think that would sell for more anyway, because people would be able to tell who painted what, you know?

for the army/skirmish army ideas we have

-GW-Ogres, but. they are sold out at the main distrubuter, so we might have issues getting a set we would like, a chaos army was also suggested
-Rackham-nothing specific has been mentioned, but they wouldnt fetch as much money as GW but might fetch more than warmachine, being a known company as mosch said
-Warmachine- a mercenary unit has been mentioned, i personally think it would be cool to have a cryx with mercenarys. if there were enough people for that.

trevor had an excellent idea of getting the company involved, if we did a smaller company, we could possiably get there help on the matter, we would have to find out which and what first, but i\'ll try and get ahold of whoevers we decide to do.

@greenstuff- avicenna is a yes, and add airhead to your list, ive got mine set!

thoughts?

Just thought I\'d toss this in, we have a lot of people out there who are pretty good terrain makers. How about once the theme is set and the number of minis involved is known that we ask one or a number of these artists to create a piece of terrain that will fittingly display our work as a whole and then have it photographed by someone that is talented in that field.
Just an idea shoot me down in flames if you wish I\'m a big lad I can take it. :D

i\'m in, but no units. i\'m moving, and stuff, i\'m really busy...gimme a character, nothing enormous, but a single mini anyways.

I think we should do ogres, it\'s new, it\'s shiney and GW...that they\'re sold out in the us doesn\'t matter, they\'ll restock soon enough.

No Witch Hunters, Eric is fed up with them ;).

Actually! I was just thinking, if witchhunters were done, I have a lot to give, specifically 2 rhinos which I did 6 months ago to a nice standard which I don\'t plan on using, and have forgeworld extra armor and the whole bit. (I only need 1 in my army and I have a special idea for it, so I\'m making a 3rd for myself).

Witchhunter/demonhunters are actually not a bad idea for a 40k army, just don\'t make me paint another basic sister! I still have about 20 to go for my army. :|~
