i think thats a sweet idea!

17 people are painting involved right now, with hopefully more now that the day has started. that would be enough for a skirmish of rackham, or warmachine, i dont know about GW, im not very hip to that.

i know some of you must know, whats the minimum to make a good \"army\" for GW?
this is great!

darn people posting while I\'m writing a too long post, but I agree, ogre kingdom\'s would be fun!

So here is a thought, since whatever army we do obviously won\'t be the most coherent in terms of paint-style. One thing that does tend to unify an otherwise less than completely unified army is all having the same base type! And with some great sculpted bases out there (spacemunkie comes to mind), it seems something we could do? I\'d be happy to help fund/coordinate that effort if people think it\'s a good one. Besides, I\'ve been looking for a good reason to make an order.

New comers, thanks to add yourself to the list ;)

Here is the updated list :

TAB Studio
ipaintminis
green stuff
frenchkid
Frustrated Father
EricJ
wiccanpony
paintingploddy
Duende
tidoco2222
Trevor
Minigrrrl (a character)
Avicenna
Mosch
Galante
Dark Zealot Studios
Dragonsreach (donating minis in case we need them )
Grumb
airhead

I\'ve got a GW shop in town so I can easily get my hands on Ogres, Confrontation is no problem at all, and Warmachine has a couple of fans in my town ;).

@Becca : I think Eric suggested Wolfens or Devorers if it was to be a Confrontation army in Nathan\'s swap thread.

WHFB usually needs a lot of minis to do an interesting army (but Ogres could really be the solution ;)). WH40K is usually playable with about 25 minis.

[edit]@EricJ : good idea about Spacemunkie\'s bases ;)[/edit]

OK
I can will get the minis at cost if needed.
I for this can charge straight cost and shipping $ to each who need minis. Then we could get the minis where they need to be. Goodness Knows I have the shipping practice(ebay). If I could afford to do all the cost and shipping I would but... at least I could help others keep cost down this way, I will check with the supplier as to restock dates they email me each day and will see if they are interested in any promotional participation I tend to doubt it but hey its worth a try. I will write again after I talk to distributors. wish me luck:D

IMHO bases and magnets are a great Idea sells well

missed this the first time around....

I\'d love to help in anyway I can. How do I get myself involved and what do I do????

Hola people.

Ms. Haye asked about whether the money was going to asia or whatnot and as far as I know, not specificially, but most likely, would be the answer. I believe Becca and I were talking about it going to the Red Cross in general. That being said, if it did, most likely it would go to asia anyhow but I\'m not too concerned with where it actually goes. Heck, Cedric and Becca might have come up with something else in the time that I\'ve spoken with them.

Anyhow, it seems that both GW and Warmachine have generated the most interest out of the miniatures that are involved. I personally don\'t find too much of GW that I like at the moment BUT the Ogre Kingdoms sound quite interesting as I stated before. If those can be gotten, I would be quite interested in those.

Witchhunter army also has a special place for me as I think those miniatures have a lot of character and I believe would sell well.

As for Warmachine, that line has some great miniatures that I think would fit the bit rather well, Cryx seems to have some of the more interesting miniatures so that is where my vote would lay on that.

As for a timeline, I think once we actually have the miniatures in hand we should probably put a time of a month or so on it, which will give everyone enough time to get the bugger painted up and off to whomever is picturing it and selling it.

ok, I\'ll take the bases thing by the horns and run with it as part of my contribution to the project (in addition to painting a mini of course). Perhaps the easiest way is once we figure out army and then base type, I can make an order from Mr. Munkie to send to TAB so when the minis are distributed the bases can go in the same package? Alternately if that doesn\'t coordinate well I can always make an order and then distribute them myself, at least to the US people!

I\'m happy to absorb the cost of this part of it.

-Eric

Also I think we should each make sure to perhaps sign the bottom or side of each mini (well it\'s base), as we have some very known artists involved (Tammy) and might up the value some.

Oh stuff it1 If we\'re looking to do one mini each then Fine! Count me in. One mini isn\'t going to kill me. (Although my wife might. lol
And I\'m still up for helping anyone who needs a figure.

By the way, just a wild question, does anybody have the Ogre Kingdom army book ??? ;) ??? ? If this is really what everybody is game for, but we don\'t have the rules, I don\'t mind getting a bit more reading material :). Or else, we could just ask somebody on the WHFB CMON forum to come up with a playable list, or just take 1 hero, 2 troops types, and whatever else looks cool to paint ;).

Ohh this is great...
Signing the minis is a smart idea marketing wise good stuff. I will look into the organization that sends the highest percentage of money to the people of the earthquakes wrath. That is what started this concept with Mr Green stuff and a good cause indeed ... Mission fish on ebay is the controller to the charity auction grouping you decide and the percentage given advertisements on the auction. I will register today and get a list of direct lines to the people.
I have no problem receiving bases and can add the magnets if needed I think it is great what is happening here. Look in the mirror today and tell yourselves how great you all are that way you can see the glow cause you know it is true:innocent:

Well as greenstuff said I\'m in.
Ogre Kingdom seems like a good idea to me, the last shiney stuff from GW.
I also really like the idea of a warmachine army, mercanaries would be a good choice considering that a difference in the painting scheme wouldn\'t be to noticable since mercanaries are suposed to be different from one another.
Well in any case I\'ll need somthing that isn\'t too big considering I have mid-terms approching fast. :(

So what are we calling this :

Paint Aid

Oh and I\'ll talk to my local GW store manager about a reasonable army list.

Anybody thought about asking James at Wappelicious to think about a senic base as well?

When I suggested the idea, I didn\'t have any particular organisation in mind, but I like your idea a lot about seeing which one sends the highest percentage of money to the people in need :).

@TAB Studio : please just green stuff or Cédric, I think the \"Mr\" just gave me a grey hair ;).

@Becca : thanks for the list, I\'ll see that at home :).

@tidoco2222 : good one :)

On the topic of the NGOs that are helping out in asia I have a few links handy somwhere since I\'m organising somthing in my highschool, I\'ll post them as soon as I have time. If you want to send exclusively to the victims of the asia disaster I\'d sugest avoiding the red cross has their donation contract dosn\'t require them to give the money to the cause you have decided to suport should they feel that it would be better spent elswere. MSF isn\'t accepting anymore donation because they feel they have anouth already and unlike the red cross can\'t spend it on somthing els. So that leavs about 3-4 NGOs.

uhhhh

i may not be all hip to GW, but i was glancing at there little website, and noticed the ogre kingdoms, and none of us wanted to paint up specific troops like 24 high elf archers, so i found this...
Ogres!

the 2 boxed sets with troops that no one wants to paint (myself included) (we each wanted to do individuals so that we could paint our own style, and only have to paint one right?) and 3 minis are available, there are 19 painters signed up to do it.

am i totally unable to understand GW, i think so...

maybe im missing something?
