Thanks Trystan. I suppose I said minor cuz there's more stuff started than finished. I don't think this guy will really show itself off till the shoulders and cloak are on but I'm happy with the progress thus far being my first real attempt at this type of thing....well, second( the first is quite deformed looking and not very far along) but we shall see!

Sorry Cass not at the moment. fighting with the shoulders right now. they ended up being a bit trickier than I had hoped. If all goes well, I might have some pics and stuff by the end of the weekend.

Appreciate it, but I think I've got it now. I just had to break them down into even smaller sections than I originally thought I would. So adding putty, sanding/carving, adding putty to a different spot, sanding/carving, etc etc. Plus I had a piece of putty under the lamp start to sag and didn't notice, so I 'll have to chop it off and redo it.

Shoot - this blows my pitiful pony out of the water armor. lol! You're doing great! Second attempt? WOW!

On the other hand, I hear ya - sanding, carving, sanding, carving...MORE sanding.....gah!

Thanks Kath! I am having 10 tons of fun with this for sure. Though I can't wait till all the sanding is done and I can "attempt" to paint it. Camera battery is charging right now. Should have a pic or two of the shoulders in a few minutes!

Ok quick pic. Basic shoulders. Still have to carve in the trim detail, add the "hooks" that the cloak will attach to, and add choas symbols and or skulls to the front of them. I didn't bother sculpting very much of the back of them since they wont be seen. That actually made it much easier in the long run. They're not perfectly symmetrical but I think once they're detailed and painted it won't be too noticeable......I hope..... Going to try and get the gloves finished tonight and start on the elbow guards. After that, all that's left is the cloak. Anyone got tips on sculpting fur by chance?

EDIT:
Also, I know I've stated how tall he is, but for me, pictures give you a better idea. So here is next to my main drug of choice....

going well matey going well crystal carrington would be proud of those shoulder pads lol.
as for the fur i use a very wet scalpel to do hair and the like chop and cu without going all the way through.
Chrome recently did a spacemarine wolf and his wip was fairly comptrehensive re fur construction give him a pm.

Thanks Cass, I'll definately hit him up when it comes time for the fur, which will hopefully be soon.
Trim is carved in, shield hand is done....ish. Still working on sword hand and deciding whether or not to carve or sculpt a quite small chaos symbol on the shoulder.... Prolly gonna carve it. Would be darn near impossible for me to sculpt it.... I'll have some pics once those things are done. Back to the bench.....

i find sculpting the milliputt sigils/icons etc on a bit of plasticard then leaving them to cure for about 30 to 40 minutes before using a razor blade to peel the apart works well then i just soak it with water and apply :) the milliput is still maliable enough to work with without deforming (TIMING IS VERY VERY IMPORTANT). do what works :)

Thanks fuper. IF I get my ass in gear and actually work on it, I should be ready for the cloak by the end of the weekend. IF I say.....IF.....
