Oh sure, bring up the specialists. Here I was just thinking faction. Now I want to know what the Mighty Taur does :)

Please leave the specialists alone. :( Let's get the other infantry first...

Anyone have a guess at the special abilities of the hammerers?

You're not the boss of us! :) But you're probably right, all the 3rd infantry first.

As for special abilities for the hammers, it's hard to say. The only thing we really know about them is that they are imbued with immense strength. It's probably safe to say they will dish out enormous amounts of damage with the imbued masks and weighted weapons. Most likely some sort of knockback/sundering/ignoring resilience attacks.

The Pelagarth already have a knockback effect so probably won't be that. A knockDOWN effect might be cool, or maybe a "stun" effect. Whenever an enemy is hit, on their next activation, they can either move OR attack/use an ability, not both. Or if they are knocked down or "stunned" they can not be part of a combined activation next round.

A "whirlwind"/charge ability might be neat for the dual hammer wielding hammerers. Like move 3" in a straight line and any enemy model in that path gets knocked back 1-2" (typical rate 1 melee attack on any unit hit by a knocked backed unit). Could be useful for breaking up clumps and penetrating defensive lines.

I assume they will be a slower unit so some movement shenanigans ability might be a good guess.

A few pages back I guessed that their hammer attack had the "armor-piercing (1)" ability (forget it's name)

Ability of stun would be interesting, though, but hard to balance properly.

This is my biggest fear when it comes to tabletop miniature war games. Finding the balance between balance (no pun intended) and new mechanics. I like to see each new unit with new unique abilities. So far the WoK team has done a superb job of keeping things fresh.

Today might be a spoiler day for some production plastic shots, don't know just yet.

But in the meantime...

Unleash Fury: At the start of this model’s activation it may choose to gain Elemental Fury until the end of this activation. If it does so, at the end of its activation, it must make a Will Check(2). For each failure it suffers 1 damage.

Kickstarter said:
The first masks crafted by the priests of Fel Mallek were intended to enhance strength and endurance for common laborers. But, a happy accident in the forging process summoned and bound an entirely new class of elemental spirit. However, unlike the elementals from the Efrenti hierarchy worshipped widely across Kartoresh, these new spirits do not serve willingly. The resulting war masks imbue their wielders with enormous strength, but the melding process has a higher casualty rate than the tried-and-true Ashman and Pelagarth masks. For those that can master the spirit, however, the benefits are obvious. Fel Hammers wield weighted weapons forged specially for their immense strength. Only the thickest and most advanced armor can withstand a single hit from these powerful weapons, and even fewer can withstand a second strike.

Seeing as the spirits don't serve willingly, I think they might have some kind of suicide trick or effect when dying. The weighted weapons can easily be represented by the defense chart modifiying abilities.

I did not see this when I posted my guess. Honestly :)

Now the question is what does Elemental Fury do!? I wonder if they will get to choose an "attunement" and each one is a different element that does something different.

Fire lets them hit harder.
Wind lets them move faster.
Lightning gives them a small AoE effect (bounce?).
Water lets them heal after dealing damage/killing a unit.
etc

They are Captain Planet!

I hope it will be an elemental choice, but I doubt it.

I think elemental fury will something else then a +2[MOVE] / +1[RATE] buff.

Maybe all armor become strike results :p

It says "at the start of this models activation". Can you imagine if every unit got to choose a different element? What a nightmare to keep track of........

Well we do have this from earlier in the thread:
From Nasier Fel Hammers:

Unleash Fury: At the start of this model’s activation it may choose to gain Elemental Fury until the end of this activation. If it does so, at the end of its activation, it must make a Will Check(2). For each failure it suffers 1 damage.

Elemental Fury: This model gains [+2][MOBILITY], and its melee attacks gain Critical Blow(+1) and Offensive Expertise(+1).
With that, I can definitely see them being used as an anti-monster squad, often accompanied by the bloodchild to help with Unleash Fury. I'm curious to see what the leaders are going to add to them. I would imagine there is going to be some kind of Will boosting effect on them, but we'll have to wait and see.

Now, I like the Fel Hammers, I really do, and I wanted them to really embody the whole "Alpha Strike you" feel of Nasier, so we're looking at a very high-risk-high-reward Rank 2 Infantry here.

Here is a reminder for those that forgot or missed this. We got this info back on Page 2 of this thread
