Reaper Kobold Raider #02470

This mini was a first for me in many ways. The base was the first time I ever used green stuff. I wanted the mini to fit onto a Games Workshop style base for gaming and so I had to make the rock floor bigger to fill out the base. The green stuff works well. It reminds me of bubble gum when you are working it with your fingers. I did a lot of highlighting and shading to try to bring out the details on this little mini and I also did a lot more black lining than I have done in the past. I think everything I tried worked well and I just need to keep on practicing. I have 4 more Kobold Raiders to paint. The package comes with 5 minis and the price is great.

You've done a fantastic job with the highlighting and shading on the green. You've shown remarkable improvement in this little guy! I also like the effect of the orangey-red on yellow skin/fur you've got. I don't like the horney things on his head, but that's as much the sculpt as the paing job. The spear head looks good, but the sword needs a little more of a gradual transition from dark to light, I think. (Kobolds are so cute!) btw--The picture seems a bit fuzzy to me.

Very nice job on the sculpting and painting of your base/stones! Green Stuff is not as easy to work with as sculpty because you're working within a time frame. I see your efforts to shades and highlight are improving!! Is it the photo or are your highlights red as appose to a lighter version of his skin? Probably personal preference, but I use a much darker skintone where clothes meet skin instead of blacklining. IMO, blacklining makes a figure appear cartoonish. I think what I love most, is witnessing the staedy improvement os technique. It is visable! P.S. Nice Avitar!!....I think mine would scare people off the site!:o)
