That's a good looking animal... although possibly a little more fluffy than the mini :p

Still, the colouring and markings are very similar.

Yes the Lynx is a lot furrier than the model, the picture shows the shorter hair version, the other type has even longer fur.
the only difference I can see is they have some lines as well as spots

I've put the hunters on hold (oh dear, this is becoming a habit) to work on my entry for Webmonkey's July Heros and Villains competition.

My entry is going to be Obulous from (you guessed it...) Guild Ball. I mentioned him here a good few months ago, the intention is to make his cloak iridescent like a glossy starling.

I made a start on the cloak last night and basically blocked in some colour with the Scale 75 alchemy paints. You can't see the contours too well in the pictures but basically surfaces facing left are purple, surfaces facing towards the camera or directly up are blue and surfaces facing right are green. I have done a little bit of blending but there is still a lot to come. I will probably also move some of those areas around a little. I'm intending to put a lot of contrast into the shading and highlighting to make the cloak look really glossy. That will come later though. I'm going to work on the body itself next and try to get the bulk of the base coating done before looking at the cloak again. If (when) I make a mess it's far easier to correct if it's a base coat stage.

Anyway... I think he looks fabulous :p

Those colours do look really nice, you're setting the standard for the heroes/villains early on :p

Thanks all. I'm pretty happy so far. I'll be starting on the main body this evening and will probably keep it pretty neutral.
I'm not sure what to do with the ribbons though. I want them to be features too since they are so prominent. I could either continue the theme from the coat and blend from purple to green, this runs the risk of being too much of the same and possibly not quite matching.
Second option is to introduce some contrast and paint them in warm colours, also possibly with a gradient... But that runs the risk of turning him into a rainbow.

Thoughts?

Thanks Toad.
WGS, that's not a bad idea actually, possibly a dark red... It's also nice because it is scalable, this has to be finished by the end of july and if I run out of time I can drop the pattern fairly easily.

Maybe you could do the ribbons with green to yellow gradient, it will add a bit of warmth and still tie in with the green on the cloak

SO excited to see that cloak come along!!! I love that figure, and you're making me want those scale75 metallics...

Cheers Sicks, that's definitely something to consider. I'm just a little worried that the yellow won't be quite warm enough and that I won't be able to match the green well enough. :p

Thanks Sionid, and welcome to my thread. I must say, I love the scale 75 metal and alchemy. The metallic pigments are nice and small for a smoother finish and they are slightly translucent out of the bottle so they layer really nicely. This is my first shot with the coloured stuff and it's also great, they are metallic but not overly so, so give a wonderful effect.
I need to find myself an armour covered mini to really give them a go some time.
