Whats your experience with selfinflicted injury while practice your hobby

EEEEW!!!!:|~

The worst I had was drilling a neat little hole through my finger- thankfully it missed the bone and just went through some epidermal layers. :D Thats when I was putting Gauth together, I\'d just bought a new drill bit and didn\'t realise how much quicker it would go through the metal!

I think we all suffer from non lead pewter related brain damage - or for those dinosaurs amoung us we suffer from lead based pewter brain damage - how else explain the continuation of a hobby that has brought such risk to life and limb and other bits?
lol

I\'m impressed..

All the accidents I have with my Dremel have been pretty tame... I use the side of the high speed drill bits at 5,000 RPM to take superglue off my fingers actually. Works better than any of the drum sander bits and doesn\'t get as hot :D

You don\'t by any chance wear your underpants on the outside do you?lol

Curious . . .

I was wondering if any of you who have drilled yourselves had a blood issue after that. When a gentleman who is related to me by marriage was drilling through oak it punched through the webbing on his hand. What was cool about it was that the bit had gotten hot enough that the wound was instantly cauterized. Not a drop of blood from a 1/8 drill bit. He was impressed too. Had to show all of us the little burn marks from the bit and everything.

I was bleeding a bit. I rang my fiancee at work to tell him \"I\'ve just drilled a hole in my finger!\" he thought I meant I needed to go to hospital- but I said it wasn\'t too bad and I was laughing about it :D.

I don\'t know if this qualifies ....

Other than the usual nicked thumb and glued fingers, mini painting constitutes an indirect health hazard for me ....
sometimes i get so carried away that I lose track of time and go late to a date with my fiancee ... now that\'s VERY dangerous, i can tell you :D

Pain, lots of pain

I can\'t compare to the nastiest of things on this thread (superglue in the eye?!?! mercy) but the darn Xacto knife got me. Got me good. I guess the blade was getting dull so I was pushing a bit harder than usuall. That extra effort helped push that knife through the flesh of 2 fingers. That knife was lodged quite well in the cuticle of the second finger and boy do fingers bleed!

k...this thread gives me the heaby jibbies...so only a currosory glance at others self inflected injuries :D

I almost sliced the webbing between your finger and thumb through with a Xacto blade...damn thing wouldn\'t stop bleeding for ever...unless a kept constant pressure on it...

Bet I wont do that again...

Xacto knifes are my downfall. While prepping a mini i started to shave off more metal then needed...hence the blade got stuck. and wouldnt you know, up jumps the stupid cat on the table knocking over crap. Out come some choice words and \'kill the cat\' body movements...and into the boob goes the blade...ouch...very ouch

Listen PPL! My ABSOLUTE worst (among many!) little mishaps came from greenstuff ingestion...made me sick as a dog! Please DO NOT listen to the many, many tips telling you that the best way is lick or spit on your tools(!). Use olive oil!:)
Oh, and never use a new blade without dulling it first with a little emery paper...or you may loose all feeling in one of your fingers...trust me, it happens.

Well that might work, but onthe other hand

Sorry Unc..You replied so damn quick...

Bude eh?
I am a new arrival (like everyone else I have met down here). But it is God\'s own country in my humble opinion. My only real credentials is that I have it on impeccable authority that whilst not being born in Cornwall, I was most definitely conceived here!lol

I do love my surfing Finn! Living, as I do, in S.Wales I get plenty good waves...but nothing compares to a really good north Cornwall swell!:)
