a way I like to do rust is...
well, it\'s long and convoluted, and I don\'t have the camera to do any real tutorials.
AIM me at parabolic000 and we can talk turkey.
suffice to say, go to some military modeling sites, they tend to be really good at these things.
GOOD LUCK PAINTING.

One of the most superb builds I\'ve seen. The fantastic attention to detail NEEDS a superb paintjob.

Seriously, practice until you are good enough to do the model justice. It\'d be a crying shame to spoil it :)

I\'ve been wanting to put these on the diorama for a while, but I finally got my hands on two stormboyz. :)

They\'re pinned in to be suspended in the air. I imagine I have to sculpt rocket fire to help conceal the pin, but I\'m not looking forward to that.

depends how much those stormboyz weigh and how much the wire can suppoty - I\'d recommend placing them near to some scenery you can drill into to hide and support the wire like a wall or tree...

Although I don\'t know if you\'ve already decided wwhere to place them...?

As for disguising them further, if you have them near to a wall- you could disguise a small part with sculpted flames, and possibly bend and paint the wire to look like the reinforcing pins in industrial concrete...

As above (But vertical, obviously :p)

Wow. I tried sculpting myself some fire a bit earlier, and it\'s pretty awful, so I just pulled it off. It\'s impossible for me to produce anything but what appears to be a gouged-up lump of putty. =\\

Any suggestions? I didn\'t even take pictures of this one, it\'d be too embarassing. I\'m starting to think maybe I shouldn\'t even bother with the fire and just leave them pinned as they are.

As I mentioned earlier - how much do they weigh...? If you can get a thin enough gauge wire and have them landing or taking off (So the length or wire is relatively short) then this might be ok - then you could disguise the wire with foliage or smoke...?

As they\'re part metal, I think the thinnest I can get away with is what\'s there now without it wiggling around too much.

Have you considered using more lengths OF wire...? Ie. 1 in each leg maybe - although that might be MORE of a pain to disguise :s

It\'s a question wrapped in a puzzle in an enigma... T\' be sure... Hmmm

I shall do some thinking <Oils cogs>

I gave it another go this morning. Results are better than last nights, but I don\'t know if I should leave it or not. What do you guys think?

I think it looks OK actually.

Of course - It\'ll all be in the piantjob :s
Are you gonna bother with OSL...? I don\'t really think you can AVOID it to be honest, but As long as your blending and colours are right then those flames should look ok :D

The gant\'s just a bit taller than the gargantual squiggoth is without the howdah.

All I can say is that my opponents are going to be crushed directly into the ground.

Merry Christmas!

Ha! I got the Military set and it looked just like that (30 minutes sorting it out).

On a more related note that thing is huge! Can\'t wait to see it painted. IMHO i like all the grots hanging off the outside of the gargant, but it your masterpiece not mine.

So, that guy that\'s being squished by the stompa kept losing his hand. A lot. Probably because the old one was too thin I couldn\'t even pin it. This eventually led to the hand falling off and going missing.

I\'ve since dug through my parts and replaced it with the one other human right hand bit I had, which happens to be holding a grenade. I pinned this one properly, I\'ll greenstuff around the wrist just a bit to close the seam.

I think it changes the dynamics interestingly. Humie gettin\' squished has a grenade? Will he be able to set it off?

And I pinned the Stormboyz back in for the time being. They don\'t look awful, but if the fire turns out looking stupid with paint on I can always remove them.

I don\'t know if my painting is up to OSL, but I can give it a try. :)

Went ahead and tried to fix the tail end of the guy swooping in with the knife on the guardsmen a bit more, so it\'s no longer too huge or blocky.

Tomorrow, I\'ll be painting test panels for practice and to see what effects I like best. :)
