In fact it looks like TMM
I agree, it looks very realistic and well-executed. I do wonder, though, if large similar volumes of that gold would look sort of dirty? While I wouldn't add yellow, I might push the shadows more toward brown. It might make it a little less 'chrome-y', too. However, I'm no judge of NMM and I hasten to add that it's way better than I could do.
Any chance the various cool projects that popped up previously in your WIP can be viewed?

Wow, thanks guys! Lovely comments. I'll hold of on the yellow for now and see how it looks once more armour is done. I've never got on with nmm before, so really glad you think I'm doing ok.

As for other projects from earlier, I'll dig a couple out and grab some photos, although I don't have all of them and, I'm ashamed to say, I've not painted all of them either!

Almost Perftec! Aw, crap.
That is some lovely NMM. Very similar to Tommie's. Love the desaturated tone but how it still shines :)

Thanks Zab!
Ok, time for a small update. The stormcast is getitng there. Very slowly. My silver nmm is noway near as satisfying as the gold, although I'm reasonably happy with the tabbard part. Also, as promised I'm showing some of the previous projects I posted but didn't finish. First up Bugner.

He is purposefully a bit old school in places. Lot's of black lining, saturated colours etc. I'm mostly pleased. The skin I'm happy with but other areas not so much. The chest tattoo shows quite how bad I am at freehand!

i think the sigmar-guys armor i really well done! for some reason i found it more in harmonization with black shoulders and cloth though as in the wip picture above. funny i can visualize exactly how i would paint rest of the details, black-brown-red sort of. anyway, blabla, great job! :good:

Thanks and I know exactly what you mean. I may do another and vary things a little. Or, more likely, I'll do another but in TMM instead.
Cheers!

They both look great. You should post the pirate in the Maug thread as well.

Btw, did you connect his arms after or before painting? i am struggling keeping my light source consistent with the arms detached.

KruleBear I glued it all together first. I'm not a fan of painting things separately (I know, I did that with the stormcast but that shield is pretty big!).
Cheers

I was expecting a delivery of some AK Interactive bits but they haven't shown up, so I'm changing tac and started this dude instead. Lovely sculpt and lots of personality. So far so good I think, although the photo doesn't look great. I'm recording my process for this one too. If anybody is interested I'll share. It's awful watching myself back! But good for learning. And a laugh!

Well, this dude is done. For now. I may well change the colour of the robe. I do quite like the military feel of it like this but wonder if something brighter and more saturated might be better. Opinions?

Looks cool. I like the metals, especially.
I think he needs a white reflection glint in the eyes. Then maybe push the highlights on the sash toward yellow? That ought to help the blue jump out a bit. Maybe even a few yellow/orange highlights on the gauntlet leather?
Nice job.

Thanks saint toad. I like the idea of yellowish highlights on the sash. Good thinking!
Agree about the highlights too. Will follow ypur advice, then tidy up a few bits and put in the gallery.

Then its time to start on a diorama I'm planning.

I really love what you did with the weapon and the armor. Will there be more work done to the metallics, if you don't mind me asking?

Cheers!

Thanks. Im pretty happy with the metal as is although I may add a little weathering.

For now im making steady progress on rusting up this Kastelan robot for a diorama I'm working on. The rust is a mix of GW acrylics and a little plaster powder for texture. Then a very light drybrush in specific places using VMC steel.
