Obama wins

that wasn\'t a very excited post...
history was made today!!!

it\'s been a long, hard, road since the the fight that JFK and MLK jr. started over 40 years ago...
now we just have to see who the real obama is...is he a malcolm X, an uncle tom, or somewhere in between...
one things for sure, he better invest in a flak jacket, or a bullet-proof \"popemobile\", \'\'cause there are still some crazy fundamentalists out there who will not be very happy with the result...

let\'s hope that he\'s given the chance to try and rebuild our infrastructure here at home, and our standin\' abroad...
he\'s got a tough job ahead...

what a day!!!
a day like 9-11, where most of the world will remember where they were when they heard the news...

cheers
jah

Thank God it\'s over! I\'m fed up of it being all over UK radio, TV and papers. I vividly recall earlier in the year/spring the first step of the campaign being launched (BBC Radio 5 covered it) and I thought \"fair play, it\'ll all be sorted by the end of the month - very interesting!\" Of course, it doesn\'t work like that. It\'s been on the radio every week for months on end, driving me up the farking wall. I\'m amazed it takes that long to get a President voted in, and I\'m amazed at the razzmatazz of it all - politics is not showbiz. It all stinks.

Well done Obama though all the same.

JESUS CHRIST! Yesterday evening when I tried to relax a bit and watch tv, but everything I saw were reports, diskussions or interviews about the election. I know it\'s important for the americans, but the election in the USA nearly got more media attention than the election for the Bundestag here in germany. lol

Nevertheless Obama has a big public acknowledgement here in germany. I saw some emnid survey, where over 80% would like to see Obama as president and only 3 % McCain. Wow, thats a clear cut... :wow:

Well I would say: Good luck Mr. President. ;) Time will show if he can really CHANGE things positive...

I find this to be an extremely cool story: here in Los Angeles today, a 114-year-old woman who was the daughter of slaves got to cast her vote and help elect Obama as America\'s first African-American president:

http://www.latimes.com/news/local/la-me-baines5-2008nov05,0,1853339.story

She\'s the oldest person of African descent in the world -- second-oldest person in America, third-oldest in the entire world. And to think that, as the daughter of slaves -- not \"granddaughter of,\" not \"descendant of,\" but actually \"born to\" -- she has literally seen America go from keeping blacks as slaves to electing a black man to lead the nation within the course of her lifetime... that\'s amazing, absolutely amazing!

I have to say, despite some cynicism, that I\'m happy and very relieved. Hopefully this will build a momentum that will be beneficial for everyone. He seems like a thinking man.

I actually stayed awake until Obama won ohio.. 4 AM in the morning over here. We had programs following the election on the major channels. I\'m glad the circus is over now. :)

i woke up this morning and all there was on the tv was \"Obama wins\". although i am glad that it is Obama who wins, i don\'t like the whole media circus that followes the american elections.

here in holland, the american elections have gotten more media coverage on one day, than the dutch ones get in their final month....

despite all this, i think it was right for obama to win, not least of all because he\'s done it pretty much all by himself. every body knows Mcain\'s running mate, and she has been a great reason for a lot of people to vote Mcain (i think). but i have heard almost nothing about Biden, which, to me, suggests that Obama has won the elections all by himself, not because he had another person to generate interest in him.

furthermore, i think Obama was the best candidate. i think he\'ll do a lot of good for america itself, and for the foreign relations with other countries. i just hope he has enough funds at his disposal, with the american debt being bigger than it has ever been.

You may find that she did rather the opposite. At least, that\'s what many republicans believe.

As far as the rest of the world is concerned Palin was scary enough to have everyone wishing Obama victory.

The last thing the world needs in another country run by clueless religious fanatics.

Thank goodness we can all sleep a little easier now it\'s all over and sanity has prevailed, I think the world view of America and it\'s people will certainly be improved by the election result.

agree with Ben here, i think the rest of the world wanted Obama to win and if he can follow through as he has begun, the US may start to regain some credability in the world. Its going to be a tough job but lets hope he can do it

okay, she may have been a negative influence, but she has been quite a larger influence then Biden has been for Obama. She has generated a lot more publicity and controverse

I was sicked this morning by watching the national media. They all went and dug up either an old poor black person or a young black gansta wannabe.

\"I\'m so happy we\'ve put a black man into office.\"

Should have nothing to do with it. Black, White, Purple or Polka dotted. Is he a man of character that you can trust to run this country? Is he the better of the two (face it, there really are only two choices) to do the job?

I wish.

But, \"Despite History Having Been Made\" I have to say I\'m with reverend on this. Enough already!

It\'s great that a person who 40 years ago wouldn\'t have even been considered for election due to his skin colour (*) now has the most powerful elected position in the world, but the proof of this particular pudding is definitley in the eating.

(* And yes I am old enough to remember watching the news stories about the civil rights struggles in America and, more importantly, to have understood their meaning).

Oh, god, if you thought the media was fawning over him BEFORE he was president, you ain\'t seen NOTHING yet! The giggling female reporters trying to get a look at his \"package\" and the male reporters who have \"thrills running down\" their leg are going to be the worst thing in the world to watch in the run up to his inauguration. I wouldn\'t be surprised if one of them actually orgasms live on TV.

I think it\'s good that obama won :)
I think that america needs a president that is willing to put a stop to the whole \"war against terrorism\" issue...
Plus he\'s willing to take some initiative in the whole enviromental question!
America doesn\'t need another war mungering veteran to lead the country.
