My Quest to Become a 'eavy Metal Painter (maybe...)

I like what you're doing with the carapaces on the 'nids- it looks really good.

Maybe it's the picture quality, but the Grey Knight could use some more highlights and the red on the gun just looks off for some reason.

It's the picture quality. I need a new camera at least a light box.

The tyrant looks like he has a fissure down his head :( That's the model's fault. Will have to GS it.

A whole buncha updates...

GW is recruiting for a trainee painter. I know I can never make this job, but I might apply to see how far I need to improve.

The Tyranid with the sword is being painted for Chapter House Studios. Most of these were already painted, just better photos.

I saw the role for trainee painter at eavy metal, you should go for it, as its a trainee so they will give you a lot of help getting to the standard as long as they can see that your foundations are good and that talent is there.

Only downside to it is the paypacket, depending on the hours/days etc it could be difficult maintaining yourself if you live a way out from nottingham etc

I live in the US :) Goodluck for me getting over there even if I make it. I probably have the foundation/talent for it though. I've won just about every painting contest locally I've entered and won best painted army at both the only 2 tournaments I've been too.

I'm really amazed at how much you've improved since you started this thread. You've done an amazing job of taking people's advice, filtering through the crap, and using the good that's left behind to improve your art. I'm also amazed at the number of pieces you've completed in such a short amount of time.

Thanks very much. I get the negative stuff through pm sometimes too :) The tanks and eldar ship were done awhile ago, just got better pics.

cant understand how serious this hobby it is for some people, it's not like we're trying to solv world problems here. just keep it going, i think your painting is awesome considering how much (little) time you spend on each of them. just practis practise practise and never surrender! :)

Thanks Skelletes! I tried to apply for the 'eavy Metal position even though it's a day too late.

I painted Hive Guards today for commission.

Those guys are nicely looking, just blend more some of your highlights. You're a very very quick painter ain't you?

Thanks Cheefly, those were for a commission painted to his specifications. :) Yes, I am quick, those were done in 2 hours. I wish I had mprettore time to paint so I could spend more time on stuff like blending... Too bad I have a pretty tight schedule.

Oh and I figured out how to use a spray gun/airbrush. Now this should increase painting time.

Don't worry Lazuli, I think you are going along great. You can learn a lot of stuff but ultimately practice practice practice pays off. It is good to someone so young being goal oriented!
Keep up the good work.

Nice stuff I'm seeing here, mate! I must agree with the rest to say that you're going fast on the learning curve. The models you're producing are already of good quality, I'm sure you'll be spewing forth 'excellent' models in no-time!

Thanks everyone! Unfortunatly do to my not so satisfactory English Exam, I am not longer allowed to paint for a week :(

Next up is:

2000 points or so of Vampire Counts (commission, this will bring the total of VC I've painted for this guy to 5000-8000 points)

1500 Mech IG for tournament.
This will be mixed regiment (ie 1 squad of Cadians, 1 squad of Vostroyans, 1 Squad of Steel Legion, 1 Squad of Krieg with various tanks)

Sorry to hear that, but school should come first. Sometimes taking a week off can be a good thing, so use this as a time to relax and catch up on everything else.
