Models not getting as many votes as they used to?

I'm not sure what you dislike with the new site? I use it like the old. If you want the listing of miniatures like the old site you just klick the yellow ikon in the top right corner looking like rows.

If you klick browse gallery you get to the recent submissions.

Thank you for the advice! I got it figured out now. I never could get to the gallery of new submissions before you told me. Thanks again, I can now use the new site!

<SNIP> After voting on all of them I looked at the browse gallery in the 1-2 scoring range again today, and about half of my votes didn't take. Same problem today as well. Could be a major issue for a site devoted in large part to voting on minis...

I've noticed this as well. Often times I vote and the vote fails to register.
Also, if I comment on a model, I am returned to the mini that I have just commented on, so I have assumed that the comment score didn't count towards the voting total, clicked on a voting score top right, to then be told that I have voted twice for this mini...
It's a bit of a weird one - vote only, and your vote goes AWOL, comment and you end up padding the votes...

Looking into this a bit more a would say that this is a more serious problem than a few people grumbling on here. Looking through the browse gallery there are images posted as far back as 26th Aug that have still not reached 50 votes. There may be some further back than that. OK so most of the images on that particular page had reached 50 but it's not much good to those who are just short. Fast forward to Sept and you find that most people are getting around 35 votes fairly quickly and then stalling. Those in the "Top 10" will normally get the extra needed to get over 50 and those who chose to auction usually get enough coverage to reach that mark too ( and then there are the usual padders).

The number of images since the one that I looked at posted on the 26th was - according to the URL number - 6,500. Factoring in the above, it would be fair to say that somewhere in the region of 4,000 images posted have not reached 50 votes. So those images Do Not count towards a persons ratings. If someone has joined CMoN since end of Aug - feasibly sooner- and posted 5+ images they may still not have a community ranking because none of their images have hit the 50+ mark. How bad is that for a website that makes a big deal about voting?

Does this also mean that all those images ranked at 8.0+ that have not reached 50+ votes will not be elligible for the CMoN annual because of this? Seems a bit unfair.

If this is allowed to continue then the whole concept of this site will be seriously undermined as the only people getting 50+ votes are those who are at least 8.5+ standard, possibly those selling their items, and people who pad their own images.

The last picturee I posted that reached 50+ was on August 9th, my next picture was posted on sept 14th and has only received 35 votes and has stalled there. I have a couple 8+ pictures that have stalled in the 30's so my rank stays the same or goes down because of the padders.I seriously think it is because there isn't a "search images" tab anymore. It wasn't until recently that I learned how to see recently posted pictures. It's really not a huge deal but it makes sites like planetfigure.com more attractive for me to post my images because I always get C&C from the members.

I either want to say it's a bug, or that like myself, people can't seem to see how many minis they've voted on. I personally was shamed by that many times which prodded me into voting at least a little bit.

I've taken a vow that every log in (from home, too many NSFW pics at times) I'm going to vote on at least 10 minis. I've been winding up doing more than that, but getting that first ten sort of breaks the ice damn.

I thing PegaZus has hit the nail on the head. We're working on some new stuff to encourage voting, such as letting everyone know how many images you've voted on and maybe giving you a badge or something ;)

Heh. How about after every 100,000th vote, 10% off one item from the CMON store?

I am a case in point. Even though I have posted images which have reached an average of high 6's and low 7's I have the dubious pleasure of beeing the worst painter on CMON! Lol.

This is because none of the postings have gone beyond 35 and I've been posting for the last few months!

I don't pad; take all critism in the way it's meant and strive to produce better miniatures. IMHO a very important way to do this is to take of the rosey glasses when looking at one of your favourite miniatures you spent ages painting and let the community tell you what they think (plus it gives the wife a break from saying yes dear very nice dear). We're all a bit competitive so it feels great when you break that 7 barrier. Damn hard to get good marks so it really does matter! So when your ranking tells you that despite improving and working really hard that in fact your realy no good that rankles some what.

Maybe lower the number of votes it takes inorder for them to count toward your rank. You've got some pretty nice models in your gallery so it is a shame none of them count.

Maybe if the voting stays as slow as this it might be a good idea. But then again I don't think that I could be considered unbiased as clearly I would benefit from lowering the votes required ;)

Yeah, I don't think lowering the count is a good idea. Need to encourage voting.

CMON PSA:
Have you voted on some minis today?!

when the site first started I was always trying to vote on all the minis when it was around 2000 but then it started to explode so I couldn't keep up. I do like to see the total count it is still good incentive.

maybe on the profile on the left they could add the number of minis voted on and site ranking. just a thought

And the count is back! Yay!

Look at the top left of the screen, near your login name!

Oh, and at 3146 out of 165078, I need to start voting on more than just ten a night if I'm to ever get to the end.

Hmm... how many a night to vote on to catch up to tonight's total in a year? To the Excel Cave!

Yeesh! Only 450!
