Looking into this a bit more a would say that this is a more serious problem than a few people grumbling on here. Looking through the browse gallery there are images posted as far back as 26th Aug that have still not reached 50 votes. There may be some further back than that. OK so most of the images on that particular page had reached 50 but it's not much good to those who are just short. Fast forward to Sept and you find that most people are getting around 35 votes fairly quickly and then stalling. Those in the "Top 10" will normally get the extra needed to get over 50 and those who chose to auction usually get enough coverage to reach that mark too ( and then there are the usual padders).
The number of images since the one that I looked at posted on the 26th was - according to the URL number - 6,500. Factoring in the above, it would be fair to say that somewhere in the region of 4,000 images posted have not reached 50 votes. So those images Do Not count towards a persons ratings. If someone has joined CMoN since end of Aug - feasibly sooner- and posted 5+ images they may still not have a community ranking because none of their images have hit the 50+ mark. How bad is that for a website that makes a big deal about voting?
Does this also mean that all those images ranked at 8.0+ that have not reached 50+ votes will not be elligible for the CMoN annual because of this? Seems a bit unfair.
If this is allowed to continue then the whole concept of this site will be seriously undermined as the only people getting 50+ votes are those who are at least 8.5+ standard, possibly those selling their items, and people who pad their own images.
