I was gonna torment supervike with a lengthy hypothetical transcript of his parents having sex (\"oh baby oh baby, pass the goat, baby\"), but instead I\'ll just point out that \"fanny\" is one of those great words where the trans-Atlantic meanings are *similar*, but sufficiently different to cause significant embarrassment in the right situations... (like \"pants\" only more so)

Now, a kegel, isn\'t that one of those toroidal Jewish baked goods, best consumed with cream cheese?

Course, I\'ve always wondered why the drinking age is 21, but military age is 18...if I\'m going to have a run through an enemy area and a huge potential of getting my ass shot off, it sure would be nice if I could have a beer afterwards.
Drinking age on military bases is 18. Which, speaking of stupid laws, a woman can marry a man at 18, screw him till they are on welfare, push out several children, and be in porn. But, if that husband who is over 21 buys her a drink which she consumes outside of the home, she can be arrested for Minor in Possession and he can be arrested for Contributing to the Delinquency of a Minor. Both are Misdemenors with up to 1 year in jail. And that has to contain the most horrendous spelling I have ever posted.

Ah, I did not know that (about the drinking age on base).

I do wonder, though, how they can be charged with contributing to the delinquency of a minor when 18 is the age of majority. Wierd. Seems like some lawyer would have fought that off by now.

Completely right...Back in the 90\'s the Navy\'s clubs in San Diego were quite popular, even with the civilians.
I often wondered about the reasoning myself, and asked once.
I was told that the military would rather take care of their own, rather than they get into trouble down in Tiajuana.
I always laugh when \"Intellectuals\" talk about the stupidity of the military.
lol

I would beg to differ with you here, Nelson. Beware of BOTH sides. I\'ve seen legislation proposed by the left wing, especially Greens, to do such things as limit how long of a shower you can take (anything over 5 minutes is entertainment), ban the use of all fur products, ban the use of all leather products, ban the sale of SUV\'s, etc. etc. etc. Not to mention that many are all gung-ho to severely constrict free enterprise in all forms.

There are people hell-bent on destroying our liberties from BOTH sides. Don\'t kid yourself.

I doubt this. Do you have proof?

Perhaps that\'s just in your local area because many states say possession with intent to consume is illegal \"unless provided by a legal guardian\" and a spouse usually is considered a guardian if the other spouse is under legal age. (note most states will recognize marriages where the people are 16 when married, though they won\'t grant licenses to 16-year-olds).

Completely right...

Unless things have changed since I was in the Air Force in 1999, Drinking under age.. whether on base or not, was a severe no-no.
In fact, according to the UCMJ (uniform Code of Military Justice.. basically the laws every military member must follow) as well as the Secretary of the Navy, under SECNAV INSTRUCTION 5300.29B stated that the drinking age is determined by the legal drinking age in a state or country. If the base is outside the states, the drinking age is 21. Period.
The military WAS taking a Zero tolerance policy on under-age drinking when I was in. I know many young Airmen who were court marshalled or in repeat instances, given dishonorable discharges.
I do not know if that is still in effect or not, but by seeing the recent news surrounding the military acadamies, I would be willing to bet dollars to doughnuts that 21 is the legal age for US military, no matter where they are... on-base or off.

Thats what I thought it was also Lurch, but since I\'ve been out longer than some folks here have been alive I thought I would keep my mouth shut - and since my only copies of the UCMJ are actually copies of the Manual for Courts Martial (1928 updated to 1942 and 1954) they are a little out of date - and prolly dont apply

I\'m telling you San Diego Naval bases served alcohol to 18 year olds at least from \'91 till \'95.

Whether it was \"Legal\" or not was not an issue.

Kinda like 18 year olds in Louisiana...It happens and everyone knows it does...when you cause trouble is when the \"legal\" stipulations come about...until then everyone turns a blind eye.

And...

My first tour to the middle east was when I was eighteen. We drank in Hong Kong, Singapore, Bahrain, Dubai and Austrailia, all the enlisted clubs in the middle east served to 18 year olds.
The U.S. base in Panama also served alcohol.

Regardless of what the UCMJ says this is the way the NAVY does it.

/shrug Airforce must suck lol

please don\'t hurt me, I\'m just the messenger

I know of one Navy-now Marine base in San Diego that, still have 18 year olds drinking in the base bars and they openly brag about it, when no Officer is in ear shot.
I know..I know it’s against the law, but do they card these men< wont call them kids as they are basically taken a bullet for me, right now<, most times not. But the CO\'s are fighting to stop the practice.
Also the military is trying to stop them from going to TJ to drink..they catch a few, but must get away with it.

is my Navy Brat blood showing through?;)
