Done listen to KruleBear! He is just the right level of chapped, dry skin! :silly!: Outstanding work there!

Really great start. Already love the texture on the grey undercoat. Only "negative " point I can find so far is the pretty harsh transition to the red nose tip. It's a great focus point but the transition on the side of the nose is a tiny bit to harsh for my taste.
Keep it on, I'm sure he will turn out great :)

Side of the nose is much much better now.

Photos show up the harsh transition to the highlight colour, which I need to blend in with some more stippling.

Yep. Especially such large pictures are unforgiving ^^
When it works as well as on the sides of the nose it'll look perfekt. Pretty tough mission to smooth out a complementary contrast on such a small area. Great work so far.
The stippling on the fabrics already really paid out. Looks great.
Stay on it. I'm sure he'll turn out great :)

That Grot looks amazing! Could be a mixture of a grot and a zombie... a grombie ;-)
Looking forward to see this further progressing.

Well the grot has gone into storage, not even close to being finished. Now all focus is on Blackstone and all the wonders inside.

Making some progress with the Kroot, Dahyak Grekh. Flesh is pretty much there on the main body, and I’ve nailed down how I’m tackling the leather.

It happens matey GW never makes it easy - I’ve bought two Blackstone boxes and will not be able to join in on anything as I stand firm and WILL finish up every gifadamn project on this here table- I envy you foxy -aside a fantastic start on one of many wonderful models I bid you happiness as you enjoy the black fort for both of us!!! But be warned GWs newest lot on the war hammer community may have you antsy for what’s up next!!! ;)

Oh come on GW. I just managed two paint only 2 heroes of the Shadows over Hammerhal box and now you come along with a WH Quest 40K ? -.-
I really have to be strong.

Great job on the kroot so far like what you did on the stomach. The "striping?" gives a nice effect and the contrast is really spot on. The leather looks good so far but I think it could use some darker shades in the deepest shadows. But looking at the gobbo above I don't think someone has to remind you of more contrast :) .

I really have to be strong -.-

My willpower is weak! When something new and shiny comes along I have to drop everything for it. Thank god they didn’t announce a daemon primarch this weekend!

Thanks for the praise. Cyanide, I took on board your point about the leather shadows and I’ve gone back in with a dark purple for some global shading (as BaM would call it) on the leather. The bit across his chest will be mostly invisible behind the gun so I’m not too concerned about it.

I tried a slightly warmer and darker leather for the wrist and leg straps, so it doesn’t draw attention away from the chest and head, but it definitely needs another layer of highlight and a dark shade.

As usual I’m away from home for the week with work (perils of working 150 miles from your house) so I’ll be trying to snatch any hobby time I can in the evenings. Mr Grekh is tucked away in his storage container.

Nice start on the Kroot. I somehow managed to avoid getting Blackstone (at least for now)! So I will stick with my Gobbo until I crack and buy Blackstone

Nice skin tones! Did you consider scratching the leather? And is it safe to store it in towel paper? Plain printer paper used to scratch off the paint from my mini.

Great start on the Kroot Fox, leather is looking great - as LL said, a few scratches of bright specular highlights might enhance it more.

Dont forget painting that gobbo though! back on mine tonight!

Blackstone does indeed equal crackstone! Lemm, kitchen towel has always been fine for me.

I’m really not happy with the leather on the Kroot’s calves and wrist, so it’ll likely be getting a repaint alongside the feet when I’m finished with everything else on him. Will definitely be getting some scratches there.

Dry fitted the rifle to see how things were playing out so far. Metallics on the waist to come next.

Still not sure what colour the outside of the cloak should be. Pale blue-grey maybe?

IMHO the leather on the bag on his hip looks good, maybe go for something like that for his wrist + calves?
Otherwise, it look very good. Subtle colors yet great contrast.
