The red erally looks great. The start on the NMM ball thingies looks very promising so far. But really excited what you gonna do on the large armor scales on the back :)

They have turned into a massive issue. Tried and failed a few times with them now and the paint has gotten very thick and rough.

50/50 between throwing this one away or not. If I wasn’t so please with the job I’d done on the face it’d already have seen the bin.

Promise I will get round to every else’s threads too!

Ah damn. Sorry to hear that. The shape is really tricky especially with that large size. Maybe we can use the collective skill/experience of the forums to help you^^. Do have some pics of the actual state ?
Don't know what you tried already but I'ld have tried a circular highlight on top of the plates. Or multiple smaller circular spots depending on where the light is coming from.

Recently I’ve had an issue on bases I went cray with pigments hated how much built up after several try’s -was ready to scrap and dip into box two-that’s when my girl looked at me with her beutuful Chinese big almond eyes and said-you can save them honey so I rebase Oates them one last time and said I’ll just use this opertunity to make my paint do the magic .press on youngan !!! You got this .

Hi Foxtail,
As someone once said...

Hi all!

I'm a long time lurker on CMoN, but a very recent member due to getting back into painting after a few years away.

I don't consider myself a particularly good painter and I'm having to slowly relearn the ropes again. So I'm going to inflict my ongoing WIPs on you all and leech off of your collective wisdom.

...

Cheers!
Foxtail

Why drag up the ancient history?

Two reasons:
1. I am that same CMoN lurker who has looked upon the works of others and marvelled but never committed to posting my own modest efforts, yet now feel inspired to do so after binge reading your entire WIP and seeing the incredible progress that you have made. I feel sincere gratitude that you have shared your journey, thank you! Really!

2. Re your current issues with the armour plating, would the Foxtail who started this WIP have felt dissapointed with the results that you are achieving now, or would he perhaps have thought 'Wow!... I could never be that good!'?

As the greenest of newbies (this is only my third ever CMoN post) I certainly don't feel qualified to offer any technical advice, but maybe deciding that it's going in the bin might be the right answer answer (please hold the chorus of 'WTF?' responses for just one moment there folks, I agree it's too beautiful!). If you really feel it's a write off then make that decision, but have just one more painting session on it before adding it to the potato peelings. At this point you'll have nothing to lose, all bets are cancelled and it doesn't matter if you mess it up, and maybe that freedom to 'just do it' will make the difference and you'll find the inspiration to save it. (or maybe not, and I'll be villified for such a bone head idea, and Doc Zoff will have the shortest CMoN career ever... and if a new member called Zoc Doff subsequently joins, it ain't me - honest!).

Kidding aside, you are an awesome painter so have faith and you will find a way!

PS. I was also inspired to buy a Beli for myself, I've just zoomed your photos down to actual life size... OMG!! Just incredible!
