Foxtail's Ongoing Painting Journey

Just had a read back through the thread.. you've been working on this guy for ages! But it's certainly paid off! The attention to detail on is amazing.

One of the biggest changes was the skin - you went from what looks like cadian fleshtone + reikland wash to what you have now (which is..?). It's almost like night and day by comparison and the tones are now muted but yet vibrant and interesting? Very cool.

Lots of work commitments over the last 6 months kept me from devoting a lot of time to him. Thanks for the praise, it's difficult to keep persevering with a model this long but the positive support has helped massively.

The skin was based with Rakarth Flesh and washed with Reikland Fleshshade. This was too warm for my liking so I blended Rakarth Flesh with a darker version of Rakarth Flesh I made up (added a bit of dark brown and dark blue), then glazed over with the purple and red. The wash guided where I blended the tones, so it wasn't a wasted effort.

How did the resin pour ended?

I realised just before I was going to do it that the tail will lie in the are I'll be pouring. So I'm finishing the model off entirely and setting him on the base before pouring.

On that note, fur is almost done. Just one more layer of ivory to go to really up the contrast.

Hard to keep motivated on bigger models sometimes mate but your are doing a great job. Fur on the back looks good, I always find this much texture on a model a bit daunting to tackle, so great job keeping it consistent

Excited to see this come together

pheewww you were lucky! or perfectly cautious!! ;)

As hairster points bigger models are quite a bit exhausting and demanding... keep at it you'll finish it off in no time!

Still a few bits left to do but I thought I’d get the resin poured tonight.
I know he’ll never read this but I’d like to thank Sproket for the tutorial on the goo strands too!

Man that rat keeps just getting better. What did you use to make the green slime? It looks awesome and I would love to use something like it on my current project.

Thanks guys. Can’t finish Dave until the resin is set, but all that is left to do is the sword blade and orb. In the meantime, started on something to keep Kuribo from harassing me too much!
