First WIP ever so I thought I'd start small

I propose a healthy dose of washes and glazes on that dragon. It will help to give more depth to the red tones. If you really want a lot more depth: coat with satin or glossy varnish (sprayed on very lightly with an airbrush), apply glaze, drybrush, seal with varnish, glaze, drybrush. repeat until satisfied. (it's how i did my Blood Angels and I was surprised at the depth that technique gave)

You, sir, are currently rolling like a boss. The tower looks really sweet, one thing I will say about it though, the ready made bushes look a bit too much like giant brocolii and drag it down. If you could replace it with tall grass or something the job would be a good'un, I reckon. It detracts from the badass job you've done on the realism.
The dragon head , I would agree needs more depth. Some glazes and layers would work a treat. Hell of a project though, have to admit that a singular drawn out profanity was uttered when I saw what you were doing. I can honestly say I do not have the brass to take on something like that.

thanks guys, I must admit the bushes are not 100% to my liking but I needed something there and just hate grass. The head will definately receive glazes, washes and more highlights (just put a very thin red wash on it this very morning) but Cang will be going on the back burner for just a teeny weeny while, apparantley I have to attend my brothers 4 day wedding celebrations out of town and when I come back I am thinking of entering that space mariney type compo thats just been launched, hmmmmm first ever painting competition could be interesting as none of my minis have ever photographed that well with the setup I have and I havent painted anything small in a while but off i go to see about choosing just the right mini :)

cheers guys

Have fun, man. Don't let this turn into a "hangover " type incident! It's easier than you'd imagine. Trust me, having 4 days doesn't translate to "It's cool, we'll get ruined on the first night then we'll have 3 days to find him" lol.

wow i cant believe its been this long for me to pick Cang up again, what with changing career (at very short notice i might add) and getting distracted by other non mini related projects/events/watching too many films to placate the wonderful woman who is my better (in so many ways) half. I have finally returned to Cang. I am just gluind/pinning and filling the seams before getting him ready for primer. I will try to keep this thread going at a nice steady pace and will post pics as soon as possible.

good point Cassar but having spent many months working on the grounds of that wonderful example of medieval architecture i know it is slightly more yellow than that picture is showing and it would have looked a bit meh. but hey ho, sticking Cang together is proving to be a little frustrating, most of the join areas have splayed out in the mold and cause the seems to splay out to a point, i have to shave them down and build back up using green stuff or milliput, it is proving to be quite a pain maybe i should ship it to the emerald isle for the milliput master to have a crack at :cute:

Just took advantage of the Cang 2.0 release and was interested to see how this has progressed since a year ago? Especially interested in the filling and joint work needed.

Well my my it's been such a long time since i posted anything about Cang. So truth time, what with work and personal stuff everything has been put on the back burner. Cang is assembled with joints filled (eventually) and base coated an nice bright red. Then he was dropped and broke his back. he was put together again but needs more work around the joints to make them blend in again.

He sits on the work bench looking at me everytime I walk past but cannot find the time to put brush to resin.

Well I now feel thoroughly ashamed that he has been neglected for so long and I did just a little work on him last night (but working nights the light was abismal so had to stop) I will be taking some time off from work soon and have made a promise to myself to finish him in this time. I will take some pictures of the stage he's at soon and update you all.

So it's a big apology for the lack of anything happening.

No worries - it happens to the best of us. Paint him when you feel the muse calling and not before :) The fact that you've posted here suggests you may be hearing her siren call before too long, though :)

Well here are some piccies of where I'm at so far. Not happy with the colour balance at all from my little camera in these lights but I have to live with it for hte time being. At least until I see some sunlight that is. Working nights means I paint through the night on my "daya" off.

Let me know what you think so far and it is faaaaar from finished and looks completely different in real life but when finished gonna get some proper pictues taken.
