Here's a little update on Kolghor.

I've painted the teeth and nails, as well as the leather armour pieces. I've also started on some of the other leather parts. My biggest problem is, that all the leather on this mini requires a lot of different colours and nuances, to keep them apart, but I hope that by varying the highlights and shades, I can make it look decent.

I originally wanted to paint the runes on the sling stones as if they were glowing, but after a few tries that didn't work well, I've decided that I'll probably just paint them with plain colours (blue and red probably).

Bravo on the NMM. Looks good to me but its something I have yet to attempt so thanks for starting this conversation about it. Welcome back! I am just getting started myself.

Nice orc sculpt and i like the nice olive color you have going on the skin. And welcome back to the hobby.

I bought myself a airbrush compressor, with a few extras, on eBay yesterday.

I only paid £75 for it, which would be pretty cheap even if it was the compressor alone, but with the extra stuff it is a freakin' steal. While the three airbrushes aren't anything to write home about, one of them will be fine for practice and priming. The other two might come in handy for general paintwork or decorating cakes.

Meanwhile I've come a little further with Kolghor, although I haven't gotten as far as I had hoped to be at this point. Nevertheless I am sure I will get it finished on time. It is mostly detail work that is left.

I wonder what the chain looking thing he has on his skin below the left elbow is supposed to be? A tattoo? a scar? a pimple? Any ideas?

At first i thought it was chain body piercing, but it does not look like chain links. Perhaps it is ritual scarring that would look good with blacks or purples.

Kolghor is finally finished. There are several more steps I could take to make him look better, but I've run out of time and other projects have stolen my focus a bit during the last week. Anyway, I'm happy with the end result and it is a pretty accurate representation of my current skill level with a brush.

I didn't really get to use much of the great advice you guys have given me here, but hopefully I can apply it to my next mini.

I've uploaded him to the gallery here.

Thanks Stewsayer.

It seems Kolghor will get me close to my goal for this year, which is to paint a model good enough to get 8/10 here on CMoN.

Meanwhile I've been painting a couple of models intended for eBay.

I'm going for a fairly good tabletop standard, Maybe not 'Eavy Metal standard, but good enough to sell.

The Stormtalon is more or less ready for varnish and decals, although I haven't done any work on the base yet (will do standard dirt and grass).

The dwarf needs quite a lot of work still. Everything needs at least another highlight and I haven't really painted the base yet. The head is attached with blutac to get a feel for the final look, but won't be glued on before I've finished the beard.

Hopefully they will both be done for a Sunday auction start.
