I primed the mini with airbrush using Vallejo Israeli Sand Grey Surface Primer. The only reason I use this particular color is, that it is the one I have. When I bought it, the store didn't have any grey, so I went with this color instead. After priming I sprayed on some white for zenithal highlights.

After doing some not so succesful experiments with the zenithal highlighting and glazing, I decided to go back to simple layering and blending. I started by painting all the skin a 50/50 mix of Vallejo Game Color Dead White and Beasty Brown as a basecoat. I followed this by a wash of pure Beasty Brown and then layered from the 50/50 mix up to a pure Dead White highlight.

Along the way the eyes were painted VGC Goblin Green and highlighted with a mix of Goblin Green and Dead White and finally the pupils were painted pure VGC Black. The nose was basecoated with black and then given highlights of Citadel Eshin Grey and 50/50 Eshin Grey/Pure White.

To get an idea whether I was on the right track with my color choices, I basecoated the metal parts of the face mask with Eshin Grey, the leather straps with VGC Leather Brown, and the cloth with Citadel Doombull Brown. So far I think the color combinations looks to be alright.

Thanks Zab.

It's been a few days since my last update and Eclipsante has been put on hold, as I have gotten a commission for a small Ultramarines army (around 1500 points I think).

The first unit under the brush is a Terminator Assault Squad, which so far has been assembled, primed and basecoated.

I really need to get faster at the assembly/clean-up part, which took me almost 5 hours. Some of that time were due to inexperience with termies, so I basically cleaned every mouldline, including some that aren't visible after assembly.

I have also started a blog for my paint work (the link is in my signature below), but I will still try to get stuff posted here too, as the feedback is invaluable.

Almost Perftec! Aw, crap.
Nice start. I'll be tackling telion and some scouts soon so this will be fun to watch. Also, I'll follow your blog and add you to my blog roll :)

Liking the wolfen so far mate.

I see you are using the airbrush on the termies. To help speed up the process it might be worth doing a light coat of a lighter blue or even white from above at a 45 degree or steeper angle to mark in the highlights. You could also hit them from below with your darkest shadow colour to start establishing the shadows.

I did contemplate doing zenithal highlighting, but the customer wanted classic 'Eavy Metal look, so I ended up doing it that way.

In the meantime I've finished the terminators.

Thank you.

It's kind of interesting that they are doing pretty well in the gallery, although they technically aren't that well painted (no fancy blending, etc.). I guess perhaps a consistent looking unit looks more impressive, than a single model, even if the latter is painted better.
