New weekend, new project.
Mini by RockedPigGames Flora Fey.

First fast sketch and blocking in base colors with acrylic guache:

Followed by the first oil layer. At this point the layer has to dry. Smearing on more paint will just create a mess at this point.

My first thought when I saw the mini was poison ivy from Batman!

Really nice brush work and blending already on this. The skin tone is perfect, highlights done so well. A definite inspiration to watch my friend.

Thanks a lot guys :)
Skin and the blossom have been the main focus and took most of the painting time. The tendrils I rushed a bit but I'm glad I finished her :)

Also started another attempt on OSL.
Have quite a few failed attempts in my eternal WIP box xD

Still in the sketching phase but I'm mildly optimistic that it starts to work this time.

Started to refine a bit and also tried to introduce a bit of the "base" colors of the different cloth parts. Killed the OSL effect quite a bit -.-
Try to get it back with more orange and darker shadows again. Quite tough to paint without making it look kinda "monochrome-yellow/orange" but representing different colors but also having them effected by the OSL.
But I'm quite happy with the face so far :)

Reinforced shadows (actually to pure black where no light hits) and kept on refining and introducing more warm tones.
Think the value contrast is on a good track on the warm side so far. Saturation could still be a bit higher here and there. Also need to neutralize the turquoise sleeve. Blue surfaces should turn black under red light so the blue still kills the effect although I desaturated it a lot .

With color values corrected (pulls the neraly black color values into black) it looks quite good already I think.

Learned quite a bit during this project and most likely not the last OSL I'll do :)

Absolutely stunning... all the brights in just the right spots. You can actually feel it with the black background. Well done, and a great lesson on how not to over do it.

Thanks guys :)

Not a lot happened the last weeks. A bit uninspired atm but started a new mini this week. Not really sure where it's heading so I just doodle around and throw some paint at it and look how it turns out.

The worst is finishing a project from which you are massively inspired to starting one that doesn't have the same mental affinity!

Nice start on the nmm.

And tremendous light work on the witch.

Thanks :)

Yeah kinda true ^^ xD
Will probably need another witcher inspired mini. Still very inspired by the universe and the great artworks around it. Love the dark fantasy setting. Warhammer fantasy was a bit similar in the old world. The card artwork of the stand alone Gwent game are fantastic reference although a lot of effects that look great in illustrations are hard to translate onto a miniature.

Current mini reminds me a bit of the Draugers in the tombs of Skyrim ^^
