hi Scorp! I think that it might be because there are no Skills listed anywhere that add multiple dice. Of course, if reziman wants to use it that way, *I* have no problem with it. My suggestion was just a suggestion. :)

OTOH, to be cleaner about it, unless it is intended that if the Dice adds are all taken end up with a total of +6 Dice - Ranged, I would also just repeat the +1 Die - Ranged at each level. It might be easier to explain that they stack than explaining that the total changes. (Again, I'm making assumptions about intent) Especially if say, at Orange the +2 Ranged is not taken and at Red the +3 is, then does he really get +3 Dice at Red, or +1 to whatever he previously had?

Only suggestions. Not trying to be preachy (though I often come off that way), so apologies in advance. :)

OK, cool. Just thought that maybe you thought there was something in the rules that explicitly prohibited it.

Scorp. No problem at all.

Oops. Was putting a new skill idea here, then remembered that we have a forum topic for that. Moving it to there.

On my phone, so can't post art or anything, but an idea I was bouncing around with a friend..

Jesse

Orange

Rule #2: Double Tap**

Oooh....I like the cardio rule. That could've saved my guys on a couple of different occasions.

Also, is there a page with JUST the new character cards, so we don't have to search through all of the pages? How about all of the house/custom rules?

Two character concepts for you guys:

NEW SURVIVORS > Ted and Rex

Ted - "I'm here to help. We do this together and we get out alive."
Ted was a search-and-rescue worker who spent his life finding and helping others in times of disaster. He was called out to a crisis zone and found himself face-to-face with the one thing he was never trained for: the zombie apocalypse. Now he, and his canine companion, fight for their survival and help others along the way. Who's going to help them though...

Blue / +1 free Trade action
Yellow / Medic
Orange A / +1 Action
Orange B / Is that all you've got?
Red A / +1: Combat
Red B / Destiny
Red C / Born leader

Rex - "Woof."
Rex was a trained search-and-rescue dog, who would sniff out those trapped or in danger due to a disaster. He soon picked up a new scent. One not quite human and not quite dead. Now he fights tooth and nail with his handler, as they struggle to survive against the growing zombie horde.

Blue / 2 Zones per Move action
Yellow / Slippery
Orange A / +1 free Move action
Orange B / Tough
Red A / Loud
Red B / Lucky
Red C / +1 Zone per Move action

Like the Buddy System idea.

As for Ted and Rex again good ideas but I think two actions at Blue level even if you think the Buddy System is not as powerful as others is maybe too much.

Ted I'd also consider throwing in at Orange level a +1 free search action that combines with the Buddy System rule.

Rex I'd change the Yellow back to +1 Action to be consistent with other characters - that extra action is a game changer. I'm not sure how you are handling weapons with Rex either. I'm wondering whether you make Rex a special equipment card for Ted that confers the Buddy System Rule and say the benefits of Flashlight, you could then have Ted start with Rex?

Buddy system = cool idea.

Rex the dog as a gun toting extra 5 inventory slot accessory... not to my liking. Heck, when I made Scooby Doo (see p.5, reply #96), who's a cartoon character, I even put in the "Can't use weapons" rule... hey, no hands! Only pans and crowbars for this puppy... and maybe the occasionnal baseball bat and fire axe.

I do like considering him as a special equipement card (the owner's got to hold his leash) that could combo baseball bat and flashlight.

Although I think that the beauty of Zombicide! is it's simplicity, you might even consider adding a special move for Rex : "Fetch boy!" that could have him retreave an objective up to 2 zones away...

Just my 2¢,

I mostly wanted to get something out there, but forgot a few key points. I had the dumb while posting:

1. Rex has a five card inventory like all other survivors. However his equipped slots are always full with two Bite cards. Rex can only carry three items in his inventory.

That means Rex isn't a walking backpack, and if he takes a Wound, that's even less stuff he can carry. Rex is a risk/reward character.

2. Rex cannot use weapons, and can only make Melee attacks with Bite. I'd imagine his Bite attack is Range 0, Dice 2, Target 4, Damage 1.

3. I originally considered making Buddy System only work for these two characters, or between other characters who have the skill. I think you guys may be right on changing the unlock order for their skills.

The thought was that Buddy System was a passive skill that only worked between them, and if they both weren't on the field, then they'd still have a Blue skill to use at the start of the game.

4. I considered Rex being a mini-character card that would sit next to Ted's character card, but thought it went against the design and format of the game. Keeping them two distinct characters who work great together is making sense to me.

Does everything else about them make sense and seem to work? Both are more resource related characters, and with them on the field, Wanda is freed up to be a fighter and not a glorified messenger.

That's how I read it Scorp which is why I thought that having it usable on any survivor in same space and to swap in some skills that were search orientated specialized the skill. Adam, if the idea is that the Buddy System only works between those with the skill you probably need to word it better in your description, that said I think making it a '+1 free Trade action' as a Blue Skill will keep the concept and make it more useful during the game.

The Rex character makes more sense with the bite attacks taking up the weapon slots permanently and that doesn't seem too strong (if the two dice is for both cards and not per card i.e similar to having a pair of pistols).
