10+ hours for 6 minis? What am I doing wrong?

I don't see how Black Templars or Grey Knights could possibly be an exception. Painting power armour is boring. But well... I think Marines are boring too - all of them :p

Doing an entire company of anything at a time can be pretty boring. I love the look of the Tau, but painting a squad of them all at once was enough to make me seek out some fantasy figures as recovery time.

Models that are cheap in points are the worst. Spend days painting a whole squad and then realize you've only painted 10% of the total point cost of your army. If you're painting a horde army with Skaven? ::shudders::

To be fair, you picked Space Marines. Vanilla Marines are just plain boring to look at. Only ones that even look remotely intriguing are Black Templar & Grey Knights.

Now, I might be a bit subjective here but I can agree about the grey knights if you are talking about the termies, otherwise I'm all for the space wolves. ;)

Ah, a bit of confusion there ----- the time I'm talking about is just painting the minis. Assembly, cleaning, and priming have all been done beforehand. So that's just 10+ hours painting the 6 minis.

Mourner, I do appreciate your advice on washes. Would you care to post on this thread and expound on your wash technique? At the moment, I do the "general wash" but I'm not too happy with its results --- too inconsistent. Is it possible to "control" the result more?

Will do, just have to find a bit of time.

Black Templars I find incredibly boring to look at tbh. Vanilla marines with less imagination. Could just as easily be Ultra smurfs.

Awesome idea, Tommie, thanks! Sending the address via PM. That 4-hour work you posted is nice and clean, I'd love to be able to do a Blood Angel like that to start with.

i see a lot of discussion about how much time to spend on a or more miniature(s). The amount of time it takes to paint a mini depends on the level you want to achieve.
If you spend 10 hours on 6 mini's going for table top quality then I would agree that it's taking to much time.

If you're looking for 8 grade or above then i would say the 10 hours spend is not enough..

That looks awesome! Care to expound how you painted it?

Having painted a few sets of eyes lately, I bow to your brush control. Mine look more like a dab of green color rather than a controlled application --- I'm relying on the "three-feet rule" to make it work.
