The Mage and The Giant on Hand-Scuplted/Painted Base
THE MAGE and THE GIANT You are bidding on an expertly painted piece on a hand-sculpted base, which includes a: Giant. He is one of a trio in the Multi-pack C, Lot-070, c1049 a b c made byDARK AGE MINIATURES. This guy is amazingly sculpted and to my way of thinking, if someone has taken the time to sculpt so many intricate details, I am going to make certain every single part has been attentively painted, from the tiniest buckle to the pupils in his green eyes. As always, I have used the NMM technique on the head of the axe, belt, leg and neck irons, earrings, nose ring, wrist band, chain mail glove, the trim on the leather leg armor, small buckles on the leather straps and the large knife on his belt. He wears a tattered, leather loin cloth and I have painted 8 pale green gem stones on his belt with another 5 on his wrist band. His hair is dark brown and also evident on his chest and down his back. There is a braid on the right side of his head. Finger, toe nails and teeth have been yellowed and aged to show wear and a general, unkempt appearance. Every muscle has been defined and highlighted. The pretty lady is the Female Mage with Staff made by Caldwell of MASTERWORKSShe proves to be more than just a svelte, shapely lady with a few tricks up her sleeve. She has pale blonde hair, blue eyes and soft pink lips and cheeks, wearing a long, silver belted purple gown with a hand-painted black edging at the hem. The thigh high slit exposes a well-proportioned leg and the low cut bodice helps to highlight a few other attributes. The Royal blue cape has a hand painted sun on the back symbolizing the eternal burning flame. Her right hand holds the staff, topped with a glowing, green gem, while her left hand holds the flame used to summon a little quick defense. The Flame has been completely hand-sculpted along with the hand reaching out from within the flame itself, over strong, wire armature. The old, gnarled trees, joined to form an arc and the rock formations have also been hand-sculpted using Sculpey Polymer Clay, baked at the recommended temperature and then painted and sealed. The 5 inch by 7 inch base has been stained in dark walnut to match the dark earth and triple sealed with polyurethane gloss.
