Gandalf the White on Shadowfax
This piece was an exercise in frustration for me. I thought I would do a fast job as a gift for my brother. I figured it was all white and couldn't take very long. I couldn't have been more wrong. It turns out that white is incredibly difficult. This served for a number of experiments which taught me many things not to do, but I still haven't figured out the best way to do it. Next time I try something similar I want to use the techniques that Vincent Hudon used on his Galadriel, involving more colour (contrasting) in the shadows. Also I think that the deep brown in the creases is sort of interesting, but ulitmately too stylized and I wouldn't do it again. What do you think? Any advice?
