WIP: Moriar the Chosen, Blood Angels DC Dread (Re Post)

Seeing as I stuffed up the original thread started a new one.

Moriar the Chosen, Blood Angels Death Company Dread! Giving him a face lift using the new Ironclad model. But seeing as it only comes with a powerfist for the right arm, I converted another for the left. I think they look much better than the regular Furioso stubby powerfist in me opinion.

I just messed up putting up the pics and people couldn't see them and kept re trying so were just like 8 posts of failed pic uploads!

Got a little more done on this dude lately. Just getting base coats down but he is starting to get some character.

Spent a little more time on this before I get to finishing my Vanguards, nice to break off and paint something different. Still getting lots of base coats down, but paid some attention to front sarcophagus details.

He is still not stuck together, so the wonky smoke launcher will be straight once it's done and I am still deciding on a pose.

Ok, just a small update now. I have mainly added some washes to his tabards and seals and also worked on the skulls around the model, working from graveyard, to desert yellow to bleached bone and then washed with sepia, and added a layer of shining gold to the sarcoughagus and washed again with sepia. Will highlight both again in the final stages.

The pics are awful I know, just a phone cam and bad light today!

isn't there "suppose" to be red X's someplace on the shoulders? Denoting that he's in/was Death Company?

Yeah you're correct. The red crosses supplimental decoration will all come towards the end. Once I have got most of the detail to the stage before their final highights.

This is just a project really, I dont play table top anymore, I just enjoy the painting so as excited as i am for new models, this wont be for playing. I Started this dude waaaay before the new codex was announced so I am expecting to be disappointed when GW release something very similar hahaha.

At least I got mine started first

But but but they've got Frankenstein and his Monster and 9 dreads that can be played and adding rule and fluff for the secesor chapters and and and.:jump::laugh:

Of course your right, the new model will probably be darn close to yours, its like their in your mind sometimes.

Some minor advances on the painting, nothing worth mentioning really, however I have just mocked him up using blu-tac to get an idea of how the model will look.

Really love the sense of motion you put into the dread. Most dreads I've seen have their legs squared with their shoulders, but putting one forward and putting a bit of lean into the body really makes the model more dynamic and interesting. Good job!

It is really dynamic. Looks more real than most of dreads, a bit like dreads striking orks in dawn of war videos.

Now I have decided on the pose I just need to work on the details. This isn't a massive update, been too busy gigging for much painting but I have a little shot of how my gems and lenses are coming.

Nice guy. Do you think you're gonna paint a freehand on the banner? If yes what are you gonna paint?

Freak: Yeah i do need to being the highlights up. I thought it looked ok but some pictures defiantely are making them look a little brown. Nothing a little bleached bone wont fix



Cheelfy: Yeah I do have an idea for the banner. I am not so good at freehand so just building the courage to do it. Pretty much a winged skull, a scroll and probably a red boarder with the DC red cross on it.

My girlfriend was over this weekend so while I didnt get much painting done I took advantage of her digital camera and took some better pics of this project.
