Thanks Sigmar! Picked up "The Child" from PP. Looking forward to it. The 90's comic book muscle tone on the bodyguard should be fun to texture.

Thanks guys!

Asked the wifey to pick up a nerd doll for valentines and she picked up this bugger:

I wasn't bonkers about any of the codex color schemes - leviathan seems okay, but meh. I decided to go with jungle 'nids. Still have quite a bit to do, but the carapace is mostly in place. Some detail work yet to do on the skin. Tried the secret weapon realistic water on the base, but didn't have a proper mold to use so it's a bit more textured than I'd like. Fun stuff though. I'll definitely be giving it another shot.

Nice work on the big Nurgle fella. You got some good variation in the skin tones.

the tyranid is looking good , I like the colours you have gone for.

The chalky priming could be from the temperature you sprayed the can, or maybe not shaking the can long enough. Just a few seconds may not do it. The other possibility would be the defective can, possibly because it's been sitting on the shelf for so long (I'm thinking years, anything less, you could probably just shake the can even longer).

Your blending looks really good on all of them.

On the dragon, I would recommend filling in those gaps (neck and body) with some perfect plastic putty or something to get rid of the seam. I also noticed what looks like speckling from the airbrush. I would suggest raising the PSI to around 30-35 to eliminate that.

Finally scratched v-day's gift off

Finally scratched this bugger off my to-do list. He's definitely not perfect, but he is officially off the desk. I'm not sure what to do with him as none of my group play 'nids and he's not exactly showroom quality >shrug<. Sorry if the lighting in the pics is a bit over dramatic 1st time using the new light box. Any input's appreciated! Trying to get better

Thanks Edo! I just chalked (heh) the primer up to bad luck. If I wasn't so lazy I'd just move on from rattle cans and airbrush prime. And you're spot on about the modelling. I get so hellbent to get to painting that I have a ton of "oh $#!t" moments once the primer's on. I need to take a bit more time spotting mold lines and gaps.

Thanks Coyote! There's a few spots I would've like to clean up a bit and some unfortunate chipping (like the tippy top of his back ridge) that I couldn't quite get at proper without causing some issues. I'm fairly happy with him though. It'd been ages since I even cracked the top of a pot of yellow so it was nice to see it turn out okay.

In hindsight I would probably have done a slightly more contrasting carapace color rather than washed out green skin on a true green carapace.
