Hey fellas. Just bought my ticket and the model that\'s gonna be the basis for my first EVER GD entry. I am gonna attempt a major conversion for single mini, involving a heck of a lot of original sculpting, which I\'ve never done before. Feel like tweak out of South Park. Winning entries from last year so good its unreal.

Gah! Too much pressure!!

Just spent the last few hours doing some conversion work for GD. Buried a scalpel blade in my thumb and then... did it again.

Stupid Steve...

How are the european guys going to go on bringing entries with the current hand luggage restrictions??? hopefully won\'t affect too much but I don\'t think I\'d trustmy models in the hands of baggage handling monkeys ..if they can total a suitcase full of clothes they\'ll surely have a ball with gd entries..

wasn\'t going to go but getting excited now.....also finishing off my entries.....

Jeah, these Terrorists affect anything, even Miniatures, I guess...;)...

We will have *serious* problems with our Hand bagage, but we have plans... maybe we assemble the whole GD Entry just before the GD in our hotel...:D...

I definetly will not give it to these bagage fools... I have seen today how they \"care\" for your stuff... they even managed to break some stones I had collected in the mountains...

...

Grgrgr... Would be better to travel by train, I guess...

Yeah it\'s a real problem the restrictions are really heavy...They\'re doing the same on mailing delays all over and damages galore as they seem to have free reign to rip open anything they want.

I hope evrything works out pk and you get here minis intact and enjoy this premiere event..

some warnings are regards food and drink.try and buy before hand and take with you as the queues for food are huge in the centre and damn expensive..

Check the train or coach times to see what time you would be expected to arrive..

Maybe it wouldbe worth seeing if there is a games workshop near where your staying and if they have a coach going ?? just a thought

I checked that rout ... going by plane seems a far better deal.

As for the restrictions, they may check your hand luggage, but appart from liquides and the usual sharp and explosif objects, bringing some minis in the plane seems doable. Dioramas and large vehicles on the other hand might be a problem.

You might want to check with your plane company.

I heard a report saying british airways had lost 10000 suitcases since the new security measures came into force, so you wont want to be putting your entries in ya suitcase.

Yes, I learnt that at Primary School as well. It\'s a really poor piece of advice, in my opinion, along with much of the rubbish taught to kids.

Cutting away from oneself may seem like the safer option but it\'s also a much less controlled way of cutting and tends to require more pressure etc... So, you\'re less likely to injure yourself but...when you do... it\'s usually pretty severe. Cutting towards yourself causes more injuries but they\'re usually slight. For example, I have a sore thumb today from yesterday\'s cut (yes I know I said twice but would you believe the scalpel went into the original cut second time around). BUt I\'d rather that than be off to casualty for stitches

Yeah just what you need on the day that you are attending an event with several 1000 screaming kids......A Banging Hangover!
Good point...
But whos to say a few beers after the event are out of the question when the kiddies are faaar away :]

And Matt, when you were on about \"terrorists\", at first I thought you were refering to all the international crews coming to plunder our gold! lol
You KNOW it\'s going to happen! ;)

Well if Natalya turns up, it\'s game over man, GAME OVER!!!
And all SJB\'s blood and tears will be for nought...well maybe silver or bronze...
I\'d settle for a lollypop me :]

Why do many people never believe in their abilities.
As far as I am concerned the more the merrier in the GD\'s its up to everybody to produce their very best work.

Just because somebody has won many times before it does not mean that they cannot be pipped to gold.

Nobody is unbeatable.

And as for SJB making himself content with just silver or bronze!!
He is surely a favourite as much as many others, AlexiZ would be worried by the competition from him.

So come on you british peeps, chins up. :)

Aye, I\'m a cynical bastard me ;)
That way if SJB wins gold it\'ll be all the better...Slayer Sword? Party!!!
Expecting the worst often ends up in a happy ending, if not? No harm no foul :]

I didn\'t mean that you\'re crap SJB, or anyone else for that matter. In fact most of you are by and far better than me lol

*I\'m actually a bit of a fan of his.*

Well, I wouldn\'t like to say game over if Natalya turns up. She turned up the last two years and game didn\'t end in either case.

Last year, I\'m pretty sure I did better than she did in the contest. The year before she did better than me. Swings and roundabouts there.

She\'s very, very good but she\'s not on a different level to the rest of the competition or anything. GDUK is very tough to call but, if you were a betting man, the money would surely have to go on Jakob or Matt Parkes (maybe a Joe Hill). Then again team Spain are looking amazingly strong these days. And you never know when team France may descend again. And I\'m pretty sure Kirill achieved a bit last year. And that Adrian Bay chap seems to kicking all sorts of ass...and so on.

It\'s a big field at GDUK, the biggest in the world. It\'s too tough to call and I can\'t think of a painter in the world who could just \'walk it\'.

Me? I\'ll just do my best again and see what happens. Yeah, I\'d really love to lift the sword, but you can\'t count on things like that...and it will be my tenth attempt.
