Drake- Glad your group had personal hygiene as well. The Lysol was not my idea to be fair but I could definitely seeing one of my fellow gamers in my group doing that.

In response to the \"gaming\" army that was featured. I still think it is a poor excuse that it is only a gaming army. There are 14 year old kids a one of the local stores that paint their \"gaming\" army a hell of alot better. Another thing, I didn\'t recognize the giants featured in that army, are they GW? I think it is pretty contadictary that they feature armies with piece that would not be legal in their tourneys.

Explaination to all my logistically and geographically challenged peers here- Once again Canada (Toronto) is closer that Chicago and Baltimore for me so that is where I choose to go. The reason for getting tickets 10 days after they went on sale is a thing called responsibility. I am a father and needed to make arrangements for my son as well as at work in order for me to go to the GT. I know these concepts are hard to imagine for some of the basement dwellers here living at Mom\'s, but that is why I was so deliquent in buying tickets.

One thing I think a lot of people miss out on when they moan about GW prices is the fact that a lot of the money goes towards hobby support - you know the ability to walk into a GW store anywhere, play a few games on GW tables using GW scenery, paint a few models using GW paint, generally chew the fat with the staff, etc. all FoC! No other gaming company in the world offers this level of support to their gamers.

Admittedly its only those with a GW store nearby that benefit the most, especially us here in the UK, where we have stores & battle bunkers in almost every major town.

Having taken advantage of the above many times, I\'d like to thank all the people out there who pay GW prices, but don\'t get the benefits I take advantage of.:D

Oddly enough it was a GW store running a LOTR\'s paint and take that hooked both me and my son last year. i had been painting LOTR minis for a while, so I stopped in at the Syracuse store for a special LOTR paint and take. Both me and my son painetd free minis, however those free minis have been paid for time and time again with my support of GW. I play at my local store and try to buy something new most of the time to help the store offset the cost of the \"freeloaders\", which I include myself. I understand when many of the members here say they have stopped buying new stuff and only play their old armies. I could very well do this but I try to keep the cash flowing through my local store to help them keep the doors open too. Stilll I hate the price increases, and trust me, the local stores are not making out with the higher prices at all, it is the suits and ties at GW. Correct me if I am wrong but I am almost certain that the wages of Direct Services, \'eavy Metal, the rehional sales reps, and the employees at the GW stores have not climbed along with the price increase, or have they? I started this thread originally beacuse i was bent that they closed a GT and had no plans of adding spots. GT are not free, ticket prices are $110 canadian, not one of the \"free\" events to grwo the hobby. I understand this and at no time was i complaining of the cost of running this event, my complaint was that it upsetting that the organizers at GW didn\'t feel the need to accommidate all the people interested in participating. In the grand scheme of things it really doesn\'t matter much it just irritates me that\'s all.

Oh, by the way, I saw U2 twice, they are freakin\' awesome, not a big fan of Bono and his \"crusades\" but man they can put on a show. Maybe I should put my GT money torward U2 tickets, I am certain there will be alot more women there than at any GT, right?

An update..

Sometimes the good guys win...

It seems one of the guys in our gaming group dropped out last minute and sold me his ticket to the Toronto GT so I am packing and should be there gaming at this time tommorrow. Yes, GW still sucks, but I am addicted to their product so much like a crack addict to an abusive pusher, I will continue to buy from them even though I don\'t like it. So wish me luck, I am psyched it should be alot of fun.

Sounds like pubs to me...:flip:

You know..you walk into a pub, they sell you what would be a Class A drug if someone had invented it last decade instead of several thousand years ago.

They let you use their tables, and even play music. Some pubs have other attractive entertainment systems, such as darts and pool tables, but these cost beer tokens, so some folk choose not to use them. If you do however,..they will kindly supply pool cues and darts. Isn\'t that nice?

You can \'chew the fat\' with other like-minded people in pubs too...Occasionally you will get your head kicked in, but more often than not you will just find yourself with less money than you started with having paid for ten pints, when you, yourself only drank six.

Pubs also have their own unique odour and, are often frequented by smelly, objectionable, argumentative people. Yet another similarity:flip:

I have a special anaesthetic for the sore ring. All is well in my hole!

Anyone knows hymns here? That was a tongue-in-cheek take on ALL IS WELL...IN MY SOUL! A poor effort I agree.

This week I hate GW for releasing too many minis I want, but don\'t have time to paint.

I wonder in computer guys complain about prices. \"I just got the new Adobi Super Photomaster 8.9 and it cost $3000! it was only 1 CD, that like $.03 worth of plastic man!\"or how about resturant conesuers \"that entree was $120 for like $2 worth of meat and potatos\"or how about.....oh never mind....

Good link!

I particularly liked the bit about:

\"Games Workshop also said it remained \"a highly profitable and cash generative business\" and that it intended to maintain the full-year dividend for 2005 at 2004\'s level\".

\'Cash generative\' eh? I should say so...

Just looked at that Golden Demon pamphlet they\'re flogging for six quid.

Ok, you get the winners from last years competition. This was free for the past two years.

But you also get some of the foreign Demon winners right? Yes, eight pages of the same f***ing ones that appear in my Fantasy Miniatures book!

Robbing (thinks carefully, but decides against using the \'c\' word in public - but they are;)) twats.
