This weeks Official I HATE GW forum

... I think the bloody \"production cost\" argument plain don\'t count!

Let\'s see: the profit margin on a box of Terminators (Design and Mould-making not calculated): Plastic and Production: app. 2 $
Packaging, sending it around, and stocking: 5$ (being generous here)
Subtract salaries and stuff... bla blah blah ...
Bottom line, a box of termies gets about 10-20 bucks minimum of profit (just a guess folks, no hard facts here, sorry)... let\'s say 10 bucks...

Now let\'s be generous and say GW spent... 500000$ (half a friggin million) on designin\' the sprues, makin\' the molds and stuff... They will need to sell ... 50000 boxed sets to get it even... And now think about the fact that about 70 percent of GW sales are 40K, and about 60 percent of that are Space Marines (The SM alone pay the Staff\'s salaries, folks...). How long should it take to sell those 50000 Termie boxes? 5 Weeks? 2 Months, tops!?

That felt good... now I\'m off watchin telly...

rumor controll

just to make people happy ...i`ve heard that gw have lost a bit of money with the novelty of, lord of the rings line wearing thin, that`ll teach em...go n polish frodos ring..ha ha ha lol

The question that I have is who in their right mind would want to be in a room with 50+ stinky, smelly, no shower taking gamers? I have been to cons before where they got gamming rooms and the stench is unbelivable. Give me a gas mask and then I might go in there. :D

As for the cost of the Plastic Termies, its called supply and demand. They supply it, you demand it. You make it and they will buy it.

Is $50 to much for me, hell yes it is! But for thousands and thousands of Space Marine fans its not.

what\'s ticking me off right now is not so much the new bugs that are comming out (this does but only slightly) what ticks me off is the LACK of sything talons for tyranid warriors (i think a sprue of 6 gaunt sized talons should come also)... in order for me to have 3 warriros with wings and sything talons + sything talons as needed for the army its costing me .... 46CDN for the warriros and about an extra 35CDN for wings and talons! (luckly i got the warriros for free from a friend.. altho im gonna need 2 broods of 9 for the LARGE army it will become)

Well, if you played marines and bought some terminators you\'d get a cyclone ML, an assault cannon, a heavy flamer, two chainfists, a power weapon, and a buttload of purity seals/icons. Ah, but it\'s so expensive... :p

Your best bet would be to wait and see what they do with the upcoming \'Nid codex. If the terminators are any indication, you\'ll probably get tons of goodies with your warriors...

Great point. That is what a bottle of air freshener or Lysol is good for. Our gaming group has several rules...Rule #1 - You must know what soap is and use it on a regular basis. Rule #2- If in doubt refer back to rule number 1.

As for the termies, I saw them today and they are sweet but not $50 worth of sweetness. For a five man squad and an extra box for conversions or extras to add to my squad (2 boxes) it would be $100. Now where is the closest bank to rob, maybe there is a slave auction I can sell my kid into bondage at??? Too bad Michael Jackson and the Neverland Ranch is about to go out of business because it looks like a few overnighters loaning out my kid there is the only way of raising enough cash to support my \"hobby\".

So on the bright side GW Canada still had GT and a GD...

I was told by a previous sword winner that there won\'t be a GD in Toronto this year...

What\'s a warpstone painting competition?

Ogres...crap or what?

I have been restraining myself to a certain extent about the new GW ogres, cos so many people seem to love them...but...is it just me, or are these minis totally lacking in any soul, grace or humour?

I know they are ogres and not meant to have \'grace\', but I am referring more to the overall ambience of the things. GW ogres used to look great, they had bags of character, a touch of humour and I have collected them for years. This new lot are just ugly fat men wearing dustbin lids as far as I am concerned and, I shall not be opening my wallet now, or in the future.

There..that\'s got it off my chest:D

Anyone see the Gnoblars in the new White Dwarf? I sure hope Astonia can help improve the painting quality or lack there of at GW. It looks like all that was done for the Gnob army was a liberal spraying of green with a few weapons and and tongues painted. The bases are one color, yes they have gravel or sand but one freaking color! I guess the \'eavy Metal team was all out of drybushes that day, I mean come on not even one color to give them a little contrast. I would love to see one of them posted and see what the score would be here. Any clues as to why GW exhibited such a butt aweful army in White Dwarf, was it like an April Fools joke I didn\'t quite get?

Ah... that feels so much better. I needed a drink, so of course I read this thread. ;)

I have to say I agree with Finn on the Ogres. Yeah, they\'re kind of neat, but I think they look kind of dumb, too. And the joins on those plastic arms... horrible looking. Not even the magic of many of the great painters involved in the Paint Aid project here could do much with those shoulder gaps.

The only thing I can really say about GW stuff is this: if you don\'t like it, don\'t buy it. I haven\'t bought anything from GW for at least a year, and I don\'t miss it. Granted, I didn\'t get to play much (never did WHFB, and quit 40K after the last release of the rules), but the way I thought about it was that I didn\'t want to have to recycle all of my stuff every couple of years when a new ruleset came out. So, while the models where cool, I quit the game. Then, when the models were less cool and became way to expensive, I quit buying those models. Simple, really.

Summary: Don\'t like GW prices or business practices? Don\'t buy GW products. If you buy them anyway, then you really don\'t get to bitch. ;)

Having painted them for Paint Aid...my opinion, they\'re not a lot of fun. Possibly a great army to play, but paint wise I found them very uninspiring.

The gnoblars even less so (though you can see from Malfoy\'s silver winner that they *can* be done up well).

The new genestealers have scything talons.

As for Ogres, well I filled my ogres shoulders in pretty easily, no big gap for me.
In terms of the minis themselves, I\'m in two minds, it was a pain to paint, although I think they look pretty good, they are a bit static and not very conversion friendly.

I really liked doing the gnoblar though, simple sculpt, but he painted well I think.

As for the WD gnoblar army, it was done by a staff member certainly not the Heavy metal crowd, its a gamers army. Although I agree it looks awful.

I don\'t need a geography lesson to prove that it\'s a pointless charade complaining just because you\'re too late to enter a competition Braveheart :)

I\'ll just agree with reverend and Valander to avoid repeating everything :p
And to had somthing usfull, I think WD as had a lot more \'gamer\' painted illustrations in their mag to avoid discouraging all those \'poor\' gamers who don\'t take the time to try and have somthing that looks good as an army.

And a point to you as well. I would love to see the look on their faces when one walks into a room full of smelly gamers and start\'s spraying air freshener all over. You could also pull a Martin Lawrence from National Security.

As for my game group all my players bath on a daily basis. This was a conversation that came up when we 1st started playing and I have had no problem\'s since.
