I bought Van Aken brand Plastalina Modeling Clay.

I just had this happen on vampire slayer Elvis. They do sell a spray mold release, but it's expensive. Anyhoo-
LUBE YOUR MOLD!!! :D

Cool! we on are the same page. I have that clay as well. I will do the freezer next time. The kit came with some mold release that seems to work ok.

Did you end up with a working mold? Lets see pics of your cast! I'll trade you one of my dudes for one of yours :)

For some reason, his shoes never wanted to cast.. I could get the base tab under them .. but not the tips. I can understand the tip of the stake.. it's small, but for the most part when the molds were working, I got about 3 casts. I may try again later on with this guy as he is relatively "flat" when compared to the Daria hedgetrimmer one, but for now the original is safe in an old camera container for future use! I'd be open for a trade if you feel like it, PM me.

OK mini FAIL. My mold did not work out. too many air bubble not enough vents. I did make some very nice unrelated bases for some orks I am working on so it wasn't a total loss. And I learned alot :) I will try again next time. Chrispy i see what you mean!

@Demihuman You gonna try to cast it again?

No, I really want to paint him. It's back to the drawing board for 2 part molds. I really like casting bases in a 1 part mold but the 2 part mold is way more work. Maybe we should have a separate cast-a-long thread!
