Q. about Techstar Micro-Ballons and inhaling them

Ummm.... I was finishing some bases up tonight and a little of this stuff went airborne when I was tapping the excess off.

My question is what are the dangers of inhaling a little of this stuff? Why on the packaging is there absolutly no warning or directions of use?

I`d hate to have to go to the hospital and to sue CMON for selling me this stuff

Sue CMON ??? Ah so it\'s CMON\'s fault if you inhanled somthing you knew was potentially dangerous  You know there is one day you\'ll have to grow up and take responsabilty for your acctions. You were careless and inhaled some of the stuff, too bad, your fault.
But to answer your question I\'d very much doubt they are toxique :p

Well inhaling any very fine dust is bad for you, but smoke doesn\'t come with a warning on it...

Do it a few times, you\'ll be fine, however if you did it day after day it would give you breathing problems, like coal miners inhaling coal dust.

Well I argue that if there is no warnings, the accident is likely + the thing shows up to be toxic, it isn\'t his own fault if he gets hurted. Then it should really mention it on the package. But I also think that a common sense approach isn\'t too much to demand in many occations.

And I would argue that each individual should learn for themselves and that putting warnings on everything prevents natural selection getting rid of stupid people. This is a big problem. *

*please note this is not directed at the orignal poster, just a facetious reply to Avelorn based on the ridiculous nature of the litigation culture.

Well each individual must learn from something, right? Learning by doing isn\'t something I\'d recommend when using chemicals. Do you? ;) But I agree that some warnings are laughable.. but again some people have peas for brains, and others are just careless. Natural selection you say? lol well well.. did I tell you about the time a stuck a battery up my ear?

Well I\'ve tried suing them but they don\'t seem to listen to pleads of economical responsibility.. bastards.

I could not find the tech star site, but a similar brand of microballoons has this in their MSDS (material safety data sheet):

Health Hazards (Acute and Chronic):
Acute: Upper Respiratory Irritant, Excessive Inhalation of Any Dust May Overload Lungs.
Chronic: None Known.
Carcinogenicity:
NTP? No IARC Monographs? No OSHA Regulations? No
Signs and Symptoms of Exposure:
Upper Respiratory and Eye Irritation
Medical Conditions Generally Aggravated by Exposure:
Pre-Existing Upper Respiratory and Lung Diseases
Emergency and First Aid Procedures:
Inhalation - Remove to Fresh Air
Eyes - Flush with Large Quantities of Water

Basicly it is pretty stable stuff but don\'t breathe a lot of it.

Well I`ve officialy lived through the night so CMON is off the hook... LOL

And there is nothing anywhere that says the stuff is dangerous so I assume it ranks up there with looking at the sun. Something that you avoid but a little peek won`t hurt. :D

Still I read up a little on micro-balloons and I cannot see how inhaleing glass beads can be anything but really bad. Working with the stuff I would definately say the packaging needs a warning and direction of use instead of the \"for kids over 10\". I wouldn`t want this stuff anywhere near a kid.... well maybe frenchkid... :D

I hope you are picking up on this FK?:flip:

I was kinda hoping you were gonna sue CMON for every penny it was worth....

Borg\'s already had me looking down the back of the sofa, seems a shame to waste all my effort...:flip:

97p and some foreign coins...

Sue and be damned!!!:D

Don\'t you believe it! Lots of stuff out there will make you sick even long after using it,. Some seemingly innocuous substances will combine causing unforseen health problems. Ohter substances accumulate, only causing symptoms long after it\'s too late to do anything about it.

Be safe. Take care of yourself. Grow old gracefully. Remain alive.
